Ratchet Shifers for Pulling

Never had a problem with my B&M. Unless TCI wants to give me a free one, I'm keeping my B&M.

I didn't say to go out and get another shifter but, if you were to compare the differences in quality.... you never would have bought a B&M

Ty, when I look for a shifter, I look for a product that places the transmission in gear and keeps it there. Since I'm running at IHRA and NHRA tracks, they require a shifter that has a reverse lockout. The B&M met both qualities and did so at a very reasonable price.

that's cool man. Not tying to be a cheerleader for TCI. I just had a chance to compare the 2 when I was at Summit. I'm sure B&M is a good shifter and has been around a long time. The difference in their build though compared to the TCI was pretty obvious to me. Both companies have different levels of shifters though, some really built and some not so built..... both are able to meet a consumers price range or need. I thought the B&M shifter that compares to the one I have was a POS. Obviously just my opinion :-)

mine is a gate shifter but, TCI also sell some nice ratchet shifters.

I like the look on the TCI stuff, and people say that the quality is apples to oranges, but I´ve only seen one ratchetshifter @ TCI´s webpage. The TCI ratchet looks like it would look good in a classic musclecar, but it dont fits my mind. Have I missed something?

Well we will see if it is a POS, it will fit the look im after and the fuctionality im looking for, if it doesnt then we will get something else.

Dan is that speaker wire from Walmart your using to run those switches?

Probably, it was what I had. I used phone cable for the lockup. Extension cord for my airshutoff. I give new meaning to hill billy!

The RJ11 ends on phone cords work for pulling tappets into place without them falling off too. ;)

I'm real surprised to see you guys wanting to use or using a B&M shifter. What a piece of crap it is compared to others out there.

IMO, if you want a very quality shifter, look into the TCI stuff. They're a vendor here so you may get better pricing and you'll be supporting a CompD vendor.

The safety lock will make sure you'd never hit reverse

Triton I really like the way yours looks. I think im going to go with something simialiar but not in the center console. Ill probably make a stand alone center console and use my hurst pistol grip shifter. If anyone has any other pictures please post.

That looks great man. If I could have something like that set up in my puller it would be a heck of a lot better for me. I would love to have a ratchet shifter, throttle, and lockup switch all right there to control with my right hand. The only issue would be on spool up and launch. I couldnt hold the steering wheel. I wonder if there is any way to attach a third arm to my body? Hmmmmm......:hehe:

Pervert! The beauty of living in the middle of nowhere. Run out to the garage in some boxers!

thats what i figured it was, i gave the ups man a show, i answered the door in a rope and the gust of wind blew it open (one of those marylin monroe experience). BACK to the shifters

All i have to say is that I have a TCI OUTLAW and a B&M Magnum Grip Pro in front of me right now, and they are absolutely identical in every way except for color and badging....... and the price of course LOL

I called B&M and they also told me they purchased the hurst brand and they manufacture all of TCI's shifters..... I love working for keystone automotive.......
