So, if I get my 12V sold, I'm wanting to build a 2.6 3rd gen for next season, I'm want a quad cab short bed as the base, preferbly stick since I've been pulling with auto 12V's for 7 years.
The winning 2.6 trucks in this part of the state are EFI live Dmaxs with fleece or bushed down A5000's.(600-650hp?) I have a 76mm S400 with a 2.6 cover
I plan on using for a turbo,

I'm not looking to build something to run with evan or gainer, just something streetable and competitive here in this corner of OH.

so what would you guys use for boxes, injectors, CP3's ?
start with a 03, 04, 04.5 ?

thanks in advance,

04.5 Truck, Smarty, Dr.P Box, DDP Injectors, Wicked Diesels CP3, Hamilton Diesel Cam..Good recipe for 700 hp or more.

qclb would be the way to go. qcsb is the same wheelbase as a reg cab long bed. No sense getting the quad cab in that wheelbase if you're against the qclb.

It seems like the auto trucks do better as far as common rails go. Limited power at higher rpms is probably the reason. If you went with the reg cab lb and an auto, it'd be a pretty solid race truck too.

Can you run water? Dual pumps? Can't make an injector recc. without knowing this stuff.

I'd go with the earlier 03-04 model, as it'll have the more desirable piston design, and one less injection event. You'll have to deal with apps, and may want to have new valve seats pressed in, but it's better than worrying about pistons.

Yes, I could run water and dual Cp3's, but I do like the idea of the single wicked diesel CP3.

Yea, I've read about every piston post on here, the 03-04's don't seem to have it as bad,

I was only wanting the stick cuz I've been pulling with auto's 7+years

Thanks 4 the replies, keep'em coming

if you can run water, and you're set on a single pump, I'd go with a 165hp injector on an 03-04, and a 140-150hp injector on an 04.5-07.

you'll probably want TNTR 4k rpm tune with a pressure box like the dr. p module.

Any brand injector you prefer ?

Check your rules, that will impact your wheelbase decision. If they are % class, then you might go for the shorter.
I would think with all of the melting of the 04.5+, why not an 03/04?

wait a minute. that sounds alot like my setup lol except iam getn rid of the ddp's and going to WTDP 120's

i would also vote for the LB ive been thinking about stretching mine

305 motor, 180hp+ injectors, tnt/r, tst, ez, enough cp3 to keep up, I run a dragonslayer, and ddp 180's, and and a good clutch

Flux or DDP. It used to be that DDP was the cheaper route, but Browns diesel has the flux tips for around $800 now, so that isn't really a factor anymore. In the case of flux, it would be a flux 3 for an 04.5 and up, and a 3.3 for an 03-04 engine. Make sure your cp3 builder knows what size injector you plan to run before you buy everything. You don't want to end up with more injector than your pump can handle.

Go with the guys at Extrude Honed, about half price of anything else and they hone out your own nozzle, I had them and loved them, couple other guys here run them, along with Garmons crew.
