Regulating oil pressure

I have a p-pumped 01. Sled pulling only truck. The pressure stays at 80spi even after a run and engine temp is 190*. Is there any spring or mods I can do to regulate the oil pressure to 40psi? If I let the truck idle for long periods, then get ready to pull, I have little oil drops comming out of the hood stack and covers the window, hood, etc.
Thanks
Steve

What weight of oil? Mechanical gauge or dash? Did you rebuild the motor? 80 psi is the regulated max pressure, but if you have 80 psi on a hot engine from a accurate gauge with a standard oil pump then you either have tight bearings or a restriction. At least that's my first guess.

mechanical gauge and rebuilt engine. No blockage and cut open filter and looks great. 15/40 oil with lucus breakin additive plus zinc. At 190* engine temp and letting my elec fans and water run, engine will cool to 140* in no time flat.

Wrong gasket on the oil cooler will do it as there are a 2, dump to pump and dump to sump....not interchangable.
