Anything I should know before I do it? I know this is a very noob question, but I really wanna do this right the first time.
Tips and tricks?
How do you prevent oil spilling when removing it?
How many bolts holding it down?

This is my first time no homo. My plan so far is pull gear, remove injection lines, and fuel/return lines, take very well lighted picture and then remove linkages, and mounting bolts.

Removing the linkages and all that crap on the side is what is scaring me.
And don't tell me there's a write up on this already LOL

step 1: click 'search'
step 2: 'p pump removal'
step 3: click 'go'
step 4: start reading
step 5: punch self in face

I searched for removing ppump, found a bunch of timing threads.

Just realized I can't pull the pump gear without pulling the front apart again. Screw that.

Why? Do you need the gear out of the case? If not you can just pull the oil fill tube and leave the gear in the case.

I mean just pulling the gear off the shaft. I don't have a gear puller that will fit. Might be able to squeeze in there with the fan and shroud off though. Hard part right now is finding time.

Make a puller. 2 bolts little steal an a welder.

I use one of them $10 steering wheel puller that you get at the parts store. Never failed me yet

Mike, I have my puller here that I can ship you to use. Lmk

Thanks, I'm good though. I checked chris's timing kit, and there is indeed a puller in there LOL

On a side note, lady luck told me to get bent today. Swapping pitman arms today, the splined shaft on the gear box stripped out, and now my truck is stuck in the shop while I'm at work. Waiting on a new box that might not even work. I just can't catch a break LOL
