Return fuel melting fuel tank???

Great photo - totally makes sense... was wondering if the baffles were the culprit, since liner meltage is highly unlikely with the exterior's ability to shed heat.

180*F+ return fuel splashing directly on the baffles could melt many plastics, but I wouldn't rule out chemical attack, either!

... an undesirable chemical reaction between the fuel mixture and the baffles' plastic composition - any additives used, or unusual materials in the low-pressure fuel system?

I just realized it's just as much fun to say Chemical Attack as it is to say Nuclear Attack... :Cheer:

Have you pulled the connector tubes to the injectors? If there was a leak there it would be at very high psi & i would think very hot. In most cases you would loose rail psi & power but maybe dual pumps are supplying enough to let it leak but not loose power. Pull the tubes check the connection & also check to see if they are bent.

Wait. Before you do that get a temp gun & shoot the line comeing from the back of the head. Then shoot the pump returns. Be sure & pull the fca connectors before you read the temps so rail psi will be high.See what ya get then call me at the shop 817-594-9909

I dont think its the connector tubes because the first time this happend it was on the old motor, this is with the new motor (complete overhaul) and new connector tubes.

The new tank will be in this week once its up and running we can get some temp readings.

You can call him

If you're rail pressure is too high and constantly bypassing fuel, then it will cause high return temperatures and volume.

Temp gun idea is a good one, or you can pull the lines one-by-one at the return rail and see whether the hot fuel is coming from the pump, rail or injectors.

Did you replace the head when you o hauled it?
What about your rail psi pop off leaking?. I want to get my hands on this truck. I can fix it.:hehe:

New head compleatly ported. The rail pop off is probably leaking he didnt want to plug it, but it will get pluged this time.

Im leaning twards the extreme pressure and high return rate, 2 dragon fire pumps could fuel a 3000hp truck.
