Will this really work? If I understand the concept, the valves will flow 4x the air of normal valves....no floaters either. Is there anyone on the board that has these in anything. Heck, does anyone know of an engine that is currently running them? Welcome to Coates International Ltd.

I read about this 6 or 7 years ago when they tried them on a small block FORD. They got a lot of power out of it but they were having a hard time with the sealing aspect.
 
I thought the Diesel would provide the sealing needed? ........Anyone?
 
Very interesting indeed. Coates also patented a self adjusting wheel bearing among other things.
They are looking for investors.
 
a buddy of mine has a patented oscillating/rotating valve setup. He built a single cylinder engine using Porsche flat 6 components and his head made a ton more power (obviouisly). Component life is excellent.

I think he's currently building a head for a 4cyl GSXR engine. He has been in talks with Hyundai about a possible OEM application.
 
Why is it that the "American" design is sucked up by foreign money? How come US Mfg's don't see the long term potential of products? Is it that bad? Are businesses that concerned with short term profits?

By oscillating do you mean 180* down and 180* up or does it move in one direction? I'd like to see whatever he has.

The applications would be WOW........ A marine diesel that could spin @ 6-7k and still Idle @ 650 RPM, just think of it. How about those BIG turbos that we all like to run/have, it looks to possible with these valves. If it'll work on a BIG engine like the one above, why not our 5-7 liter trucks? Heck, the more I look at them the more I see variable valve timing, mechanical.

I wonder if the large Mfg's are waiting for the patten to run out?
 
I don't know much about pattens, Everything I ever invented was already invented.
 
There is a Law on that as well. lol I think it stemmed from someone attempting to patten a common wheelbarrow. LOL

I believe they last for 17 years, can't remember.

.....and yes, spelling could be better or at least the arrangement of letters, it's "patent" not patten. :doh:
