Just think about this – Don’t shoot! :hehe:

Every year we go through the same headache with charger rules,

2.6 Turbocharger Rule of the future?

Limited to a s300 frame, Everyone runs the same compressor wheel and housing. Give options for exhaust wheel and housing sizes, say max of three options –

Work with more than one turbo manufacture – keeps price competitive.

Have manufactures build these chargers, and the available options, have them approved by the pulling organizations, and make the manufacture stamp the charger or ID it with there logo. If a manufacture is caught producing an illegal charger for Richy Rich, then they are removed from the approved supplier list, and every customer of that company must be re-inspected.

Everyone would have the same inducer wheel, and compressor, Stock S366 turbocharger. Then have options for exhaust housing and wheel size, depending on a pullers setup?

Any opinions?

hmm intresting idea, but my theory whats works on one brand of truck wont work on a v8

It could work but you would have to get everyone on board and the turbo manufacturers would probably be the hardest to get to go along with it. Oh, and the pulling orgs too!

I'm not even going to get into this, done it before. However, this parallels an opinion of mine, the only way to keep the 2.8" Class;

2.6" - S300 frame RQV
2.8" - S400 frame RQV
3.0"/unlimited - Any frame RSV

look at some of the racing orgs out there that limit brand and specs on cams, heads etc. and they are very successful. they even have random mandatory tear downs for internal engine inspections at events, and it doesnt scare the racers away.

if you can get the organizations and competitors to buy into it then it will work. and in turn start pushing actual engine building processes. strokers, and ported heads etc will start to become the main focus for those who want to win. (not saying that the top trucks now dont already do it)

the manufacturers will not mind, if they produce a charger that EVERYONE has to run, they are gonna sell a bunch of them, not sure why they wouldnt be up for it.

Garrett wouldn't be a player in that frame size, Holset would be however.

If i set the rule up, i would try to limited it to one brand, and try to get some sponsorship money out of that company. Then you could either apply it to the costs of the chargers, or to the payouts in the class?

I think this would be perfect cause its simple and easy to understand.

I think it could work. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. There are too many manufacturers building turbo that support the sport.

Why force someone to put a grenade (s300 pushed by a fire breathing 2.6 truck will not have a long life) on their truck???

The idea would be to do away with "Fire Breathing" 2.6 trucks, either keep spending money of s300's or put your pants on and get in the class you need to be on. I like the idea

:pop::Cheer:

Some guys think street trucks dont need alternators...among other things.... and you think you can get them to agree on a spec charger? hehehehe.

Excellent idea in theory, virtually impossible in real life.
