I have a customers truck, 1951 Mack A20H that I am restoring. The truck uses an Eaton 5 speed with an SAE #3 bellhousing, mounted to the original Mack gas job. The trans has a PTO to run a dump body as well as a parking brake.
If I buy an SAE #3 to 6BT bellhousing, will it be designed such that I can just swap the adapter and retain the transmission and clutch assembly? I'd plan on a new clutch anyways.
If I can retain the original transmission it will save a lot compared to new trans and PTO.
