ok, having issues with my new clutch. installed it and the pressure plate would not release. tried 3 different hydraulic setups, and nothing worked. pulled tranny last night and i had the discs swapped. ok, so thinking this was the issue, we got it put back together, and still same issue, but the hydraulics actually are working now. there is no clatter sound, and the pedal is super soft. i am wits end on this and im really tired of pulling this transmission! does anyone have any ideas i can try to see what this could be?

Dod you remove the washer on the clutch fork pivot ball? Do you have the upgraded hydros?

i know you do have to remove the washer. and hydraulics are strongly recomended for that clutch

Yes I did remove the washer and I have used 2 different sets of hydros from Valair and one brand new set from Peter at SB, but still nothing is working

I would call Peter in the morning. Sounds likeeither a clearance issue or the fingers on the PP may need adjustment. Try removing the rubber seal from behind the slave cylinder, this will allow more travel & tell you if the installation is correct.

Sorry for the double post..

Ya I guess I'll have to. I did remove the black piece you're talking about but still nothing..

I'd say that the discs are possibly too thick, not allowing full release or the PP fingers need adjustment. That sucks.

no triple checked the fork.. and the throwout bearing just in case, but its all in correctly.

The only thing I can think is the PP being out of adjustment now like cummins724 said... But I dunno, I'm tired of messing with it and pulling that dang transmission!

Just be glad its a 5 speed and not a 6!

6 speeds are gravy 5speed are the pain i got a big truck tranny jack that makes a 6speed clutch job in about 2hrs 5speed is twice as long

If you have a big truck tranny jack why does a 5spd clutch job take 4 hrs?

Regardless if you have the tranny jack or not, you've got a hell of a lot more weight to deal with when doing a clutch in a 6 spd truck.

well the reason i am tired of doing this, 6 or 5 speed, is cuz im having to do this on a 4x8 sheet of plywood out in the dirt :bang

lol, glad im not the only one! but on a good note, talked to Peter this morning and hes sending me another one to try out. told me to send the other back and he will check it out and see what in the world is up with it

well just got the new clutch from Peter at the houe earlier today. looking at it, and remembering the way i installed the other clutch the first time, it is the same. but thats when the thing wouldnt release the first time before i pulled it out and swapped the discs.. i wonder what the deal is with the old clutch?
