The FASS Diesel Nationals is a family oriented event with plenty of parking , and has wide variety of concessions to provide your faimily with both food and beverages while watching a full day of competition.
Oreilly Raceway Park is one of the premier race facilities in North America and is owned by NHRA and all spectators and competitors are required to follow their rules so you can enjoy a great day of competition

The NHRDA has hired PullnPower LLC to build and run the sled pulls at Indy. We have looked high and low for good quality material to build sled pull track , and on friday May 15th we aquired over 900 yards of top quality material to provide the pullers with a great sled pulling track during the FASS Nationals.

As you can see, this is going to be non stop action event with over 12 hours of the best competition that the World has to offer. So make your plans to either compete to see if you are the best in the natiion or sit back and watch the most exciting event of 2009.

For your convenance we have posted a map showing outline for the FASS Diesel Nationlals.

Spectators will enter at Gates 7 and 8

Competitor will enter at Gates 4 and 6

We are asking for all competitor to arrive friday June 5th.
Gate 6 will be open from 4-8pm for registration and tech. (Note any competitor caught doing burnouts or damaging any part of Oreiily Raceway Park will be removed from event and Banned from the NHRDA for life.)

What time does it start, not gates open but when competition actually begins?

I hope the long, inexplicable pauses between trucks making passes on the dragstrip are nonexistent, something it seems the dhra was famous for at Indy.

What is the schedule of events? Are there asphalt pits for trailered vehicles?

Dave's Diesel with both Super Street Truck and Pro Mod Sled Pull Truck

Daves has a pro mod truck?? Thought they just had a 2.8 truck. Awesome if they do. Cant wait to see it up against Kent Crowder/Scheids pro mod truck.

Sled pulling starts at 8:30am and no there shouldnt be any down time. We have plenty of room to stage both sled pulls and drag racers. As soon as one is done we will be moving right into another part of event. This will be none stop action for over 12 hrs.

Sweet deal I like it. That's music to my ears. Anyone who went to the past DHRA stuff in Indy (and maybe elsewhere) can probably remember times when you were sitting in the very hot sun in the stands for 10, 15 minutes or more at a time when not chit was happening.

Can't wait for this to come around! Anyone know what hotel they are staying at yet, or who has the best rates there?

I'm staying at the Radisson Indianapolis Carmel. Not sure if there are rooms left, you better get calling now for rooms. It's only 2 weeks away.... I went to Hotels.com to find my hotel. Here is the number to the Radisson if you want to call to see if they have rooms left... 1-317-574-4600

See ya there Ryan...

Should be the biggest event of the year...... Pinks is also running the weekend prior. A few folks will be there doing some dog & pony shows for the pinks crowd!!!

I agree, it's gonna be a big event. Let's all hope it goes smooth with little to NO problems.

On a side note, John, I think you should apply to be on "Pass Time" on the speed channel. There is NO WAY any of the players could guess what kind of pass that funny car will make...:D

Now back to your regulary schedualed forum conversations....*nx*

Hell yes, I'm going to Pinks next weekend and then to ORP, got a wedding this weekend too (free beer) so that'll be three weekends in a row of terrific entertainment.

Do you by any chance have the name and phone numbers of any close hotels?

Here is one that is 7 miles away or so. Radisson Airport Indianapolis. I booked it through hotels.com and their number is 866-925-4159. It was almost half the price booking it through them and this was for a 2 bed room. Make sure to tell them it is the Airport Indianapolis location so they don't some how book you in Mo or something weird. LOL

For NERDA or what? Maybe the drag race portion. But as an overall event? I dont think it will be near one of the biggest events of the year. Not with another event going on same day. I'd say the drag racers should have a heck of a time though.

Found the schedule here: NHRDA - National Hot Rod Diesel Association - Diesel Drag Race Rules!

It lists 7:30a for drag tech, will there be a test&tune before the qualifying rounds at 12:30p? If so, what time?

Tech will be open at 7:00am and sorry no there wont be a test n tune in the morning. We cant have a live track while sled pulls are going on. There is an event friday night at track and and also a test n tune. We will have more details soon on the friday night event.

The NHRDA is proud to announce that on June 5th at Oreilly Raceway Park the 4th Annual Jeramy Schmitt Memorial Drag Race.

The NHRDA will be on hand to support this event, and also will be donating part of the proceeds from the FASS Diesel Nationals on June 6th to the Jeramy Schmitt Memorial Scholarship fund.

Here is a brief description on event from father Tim Schmitt
Jeramy was a senior at Cathedral high school a college prep school in Indianapolis Indiana. Jeramy died during football practice on Sept. 20 2005 in front of his team mates , coaches and his younger brother Josh a sophomore who also is a football player. This happend one day before his 16Th birthday.

Jeramy loved football but drag racing was his true passion. Every Tuesday night he would be at the street legal drags at O'reilly raceway park with his 98 ram 2500 diesel truck taking on his friends in there mustangs, corvettes, civics and most of the time he would beat them.

Josh and I decided since Jeramy loved diesel drag racing so much we would turn his truck into a pro street drag truck and keep his memory alive and also start a Scholarship so young people have the opportunity to get a great education.

We are asking everyone in the diesel community to come out and support this event and help out a great cause.
