Ok I just got my stage 3 cp3 on last week. Went and pulled at TS and it felt like it had all the power but I am not certain... Well today was on my way to work and in the lower gears it has the power and the smoke,b tu as I get up higher in the gears it starts loosing power and no smoke and I am dropping rail pressure severly to 4-8,000 psi and when I let off it spikes up around 22,000-25,000 for a couple seconds. It's still very drivable and acts normal until I get on it hard acceleration. i spoke with John and he is thinking it might be the edge EZ acting up but was wanting to see if anyone has any other experiences with it and it might be a quick fix? Any ideas?

What smarty levels? Mine sort of acts the same on SW9, runs strong, then like a switch, nothing. SW7 rocks no problems. I have a dragonslayer from wicked. 20psi inlet pressure and 23,000 on the rail when it acts up, also no edge ez.

Sounds like the pump is not keeping up. It's takes a little bit to adjust from 100% to whatever it is at during idle. One question, is your rail pressure gauge in the sensor or plugged into your pressure box? If you accidentally plugged into the pressure box you will read the info that is being sent to the ECM to command more pressure from the pump. If you are plugged in correctly, sounds like a pump then.

Well yes the gauge might be acting up but when i am in 6th gear and lug it theres absolutly no smoke at all, and no power?? The pump is a 5 day old pump from Floor It diesel a stage 3 so I am almost certain it's not the pump... It seems like when I role into the throttle it is way more responsive and gets good rail pressure but the second I nail it it looses everything but as soon as I let off theres a spike of rail pressure. Is there anyway the Airdog 100 isn't keeping up with the pump?

No chance dude!! :hehe:

5 day old pump means nothing. If you stab the throttle and you are losing pressure fast, it simply means the pump can't keep up. We've put a pump on and lost hp because it wasn't right. It happens.

There most certainly is! You will need to monitor the fuel pressure and see if it's dropping too far. Also check the fuel lines and filter for restriction.

p.s. I've gone mechanical for a reason.

I will be checking the truck out in a few days. I highly doubt it is the AirDog, but most likely a supply problem.

I seen at TS your truck was idling at 4500-5000 is that normally what you see? I'd say check your connector tubes, I was having a bunch of funky rp issues, threw a new set in the pits at TS as you prolly saw and truck runs like a raped ape now, maintains 25k+ and just blew an injector line apart when I got home from there.

Well it idles around 5000 thats what I almost always see? Cruixing just normally it's around 14,000-17,000, then when i ease into the throttle it will pick up to about 20,000. But when I nail the throttle it looses everything and rail pressure drops real low and no smoke and no power! Like Matt said I think it's a supply problem. Yeah i know you were right behind me it really sucks you couldn't pull. I seen you turning around and din't know what happened?

This is the same issue I was having until I unplugged the rail gauge. Truck would run great until a hard jab, then it would make about 10kpsi and fall on its' face.
Unplugged the rp gauge and all was well.

Mine has always idled at 45-4800 in gear. In neutral it's higher.

Have you removed ALL electronics yet to eliminate the aftermarket stuff? Pulled codes, etc ?

Yeah i know you were right behind me it really sucks you couldn't pull. I seen you turning around and din't know what happened?

Yeah **** happens and I learned, check supply pressure and feel your tank after a trip around town...mine would get very hot from all the return pressure, even my AD150 had trouble keeping up.

No I haven't removed everything yet... Well let you guys know what happens? Well my idle seems fine it's has always idled between 4-5,000 sometimes a little higher. Hopefully it's just supply simple!

I'm pretty sure he thinks it's the pump I mean matt's tried everything... Truck was fine when the stock pump was on there but the stage 3 it's just not even the same truck. Rail pressure drops to 3,000-4,000 when you nail it and the truck falls on it's face. I'm pretty sure John is building me another pump...

I knew Something had to of been up with the pump because my truck with a single stg3 pump from last spring hit 738hp with a fass 150 and a leaking wastegate at TS.

Well that stinks, you guys are keeping Matt really busy these days I hope you get it lined out before June 13th. I was hoping to be able to meet all you guys and put a face to your name good luck.

Any secrets to getting ahold of John?

He has had one of my injectors since feb. and I cant get ahold of him to discuss a pump for my truck

I forgot his email address.
