side stacks..like this. What do u guys think?

Swap hoods?

Honestly I'd do something same color as the rest of the hood. Just not chrome.

Do org rules say it must exit up? Why not pop the tip off and replace it with an elbow to get it up?

well it doesnt have to be chrome i could get it painted to match the rest of the truck. Im just thinking of something to fill the hole while there isnt a stack coming up threw it

i would think it would be right around that 6 to 7" diameter have to check it out tomorrow. I think it would work pretty good

Why do you want a hood stack for pulling? It doesnt add any power or make it look and "cooler". Why not just leave the stack on it instead of going through all the trouble of ruining your hood and having to remove and change the exhaust for every pull to gain nothing at all?

Because i am sick of every truck having the same single stack set up on pulling truck over and over and over, do something different for a change. If you honeslty dont think a hood stack is cooler than a stack in the bed u might wanna look into a gasser...? I could pull my exhaust off and put the hood stack on in prolly under a half hour

So I was right. You want to cut a hole in your hood and cover it with a fuel door so you look "cool" at truck pulls. And the comment about me buying a gasser was just stupid and deserves no response. If its such the cool thing to do why do you think 90% of the responses you got were negative?

And the reason a lot of people just run a single stack to pull is because they are more worried about the performance of the truck not wether or not it looks "cool"

When did i say anything about looking cool? you are the one who brought looking "cool" up. Im trying to be unique and do something different!!! And obviously i have to cut a hole to put a stack in. The cover would come off at pulls and the stack would go on.

Once again i never said anything about looking "cool" you brought it up not me all i said is a hood stack is cooler than stacks in the bed. Im just trying to do something different and you just feel the need to hate cause you are just another guy running 2 stacks in your bed

Your right im the one who mentioned it being cool. Sorry I must have forgot. :nail:

Your right im hating because I have stacks. That makes sense? No im hating because its pointless. But to each his own. Your truck, you ruin it if you please.

:Cheer:

You brought the cool thing up not me i just said which was cooler IMO. Why do you think its pointless? I guess the exhaust exiting as soon as possible is pointless in a puller?? Mmm what did i miss there? Sure seems like your hating for some reason...maybe you just dont like hood stacks and think they are pointless

a hood stack is defiantly going to be more efficient at getting the exhaust out of the motor. cooler egts, less back pressure, etc.

dual stacks with a splitter in the best are the worst, you go from 4 or 5" and jam it into two 90's half the size back up to full size into two 90's again.

I doubt the fuel door is much over 5" in diameter.

Yea the hood stack will probably add 10-15 hp atleast I would say.

Don't you mean hood tip? :poke:

To quote from a previous thread (not sure who said it): a hood stack should be earned.

$.02

I saw that red dually (or one just like it) down at Baytown two years ago at the Texas Diesel Nationals. That is the coolest of stack setups as far as I'm concerned....but probably not for a SRW truck. My only problem is, my father retired and closed down the body shop before I could get him to do that to my truck.

Yea the fuel door was just one idea of what could be used to fill the hole i was just throwing it out there.

And i agree hoodstacks are mostly on pullers make atleast 800hp or so but i just thinking being able to throw one on for a pull would be badass!!

Hood stacks are cool, no question about it. Your truck would definatly stand out with a hood stack, I say go for it if thats what you wanna do. I think I would leave it for the whole pull season though, and switch back to a regular exhaust after the season is over. But then again, I'm lazy like that.
