Looks like someone "barked" the turbo really hard and broke the shaft. By the time you machine all of the messed up housings and buy a new shaft, compressor wheel, turbine wheel, bearings & seals, you could buy a new turbo.

Sorry to hear about the turbo failure, good luck on the future buildup.

duallyspeed, not really racing per say. just kinda goofin off and passin a friend and when the turbo lit it went pop.

bigblue, no turbo bark.

and skynyrd i was thinkin more of a door stop.

i had a somewhat similar turbo failure, got on the throttle and the tubo went pop WHOOSH....

sent the nut and part of the shaft into my airfilter, completely destroyed the compressor wheel. good thing hx35's are cheap

no it was an hx55 with an hx 35 or 40 compressor housing i think. i guess in all reality i cant be too upset it blew.. its a few years old and started its life on a stout runnin local guys 2.8 truck and then he changed his set up and it set on a shelf for a bit then my buddy bought it and ran it for 2 years as a 2.6 charger. i probably shouldnt have been drivin the truck around but i had to get a trans to my buddy in ohio and he was gonna help me back the timing down and turn the pump down since i have never messed with a 12v before. lesson learned i guess. time for an s471 i guess

i had been looking at getting either an s465 or s471 just had to save up the funds to get it. looks like im gonna start sellin chit to get the funds faster!! on the plus side i got a new door stop for the office door in the shop! itll hold the door open better on windy days than my busted output from a few weeks back
