Had some issues yesterday as usual. I was first hook and it felt ok comin out of the hole but was not right then it just lost all power about half track for a reason I could not figure out.

So look it over and wait for the end of the class, go to restart it and the batt is dead. Dang alt wasnt charging so I lost voltage killing the ecu on the first hook. So I turn off everything I could and dropped a gear to try and just get in a hook for points and wound up winning LOL. It just freakin grunted out a win at a slow speed I couldnt believe it. Had some wicked bounce but that was due to a failre of something I was trying out and dropping a gear.

Oh and if anyone has any ideas on what would make a cr backfire and pop and throw flames I am all ears, while it is really coll looking its a PITA to get out of the hole like that. I have tried everything to fix it and nothing has worked.

On the poppin deal when I try and rev it up it will hang just under 2000rpms and will white smoke and fall on its face, when I lift off the throttle it back fires and shiits a flame. When its poppin on that second pull I am in and out of the throttle trying to get my rpms up. Once there is a load on the engine it all goes away.

Ryan, man you have some crappy, luck......... I was there with John the night b4 TS when you boys were taking it apart...... I had a good hook last night as well after a long road of getting bugz out. Congrats hope you nail it down soon

Nice! Thought that had a CR in it, didn't quite sound CR though. Am I wrong?

I don't know much about much but would to much timing have something to do with the popping?

Yours and mine are the only 2 Crs i have ever heard do that mine is no where near as bad as yours but i have a pop and crack when im comming up in the rpms but like you said as soon as i put a load on it its gone.

I dont think the timming has anything to do with it cause it does it weather its stock or smarty/tst cranked up.

Yes it is a cr that does not sound like a cr.

Well sad news, I drove it home after the pull and did a couple full throttle runs and that was all she wrote. Had full engine Chernobyl. Every piston is melted down and #1 is half way through the block. So much for that engine build. I think I had too much timming in the smarty/tst, was gonna turn the smarty timming down but got cocky and felt like with my built motor I didnt need to. Sucks, live and learn build again I guess.

I have noticed over time that my rig (555) likes the TST timing way more than the Smarty timing. I am running TNT Revo and have tried messing with the timing on or off on multiple levels and its just doesnt respond like it does with the TST. Also mine had a popping fit, backfiring, white/gray smoke spewing fits a couple of times, and every time its the cranks sensor, and this last time it threw the cam sensor code. Unplug TST for min or two and back to normal

OOOf, I know what that feels like.

I don't have a bunch of testing on these monotherms yet, but so far I'm impressed. Might be the way to go if you can't spray water and want to run that hot.

Sure was running sweet, cept for the poppin, and that was different......

I can run water but have not tuned it in yet so never turned it on. EGTs dont get all that hot, 1500 tops but that dont mean things are not melting down in the cylinders I guess.

Would love to have some mono's, might have to see if they have any left.

Oh and on a funny note, anyone looking at ceramic coatings to save thier pistons HAHAHAHAHAHA what a joke that is! Every piston is melted down to the rings, what coating?

That must be what's making that foot of flame out the stack at the end of the pull white......burnin that chit off.

and you went to the dark side for what reason???:hehe:I would to if I had the money ,sorry about the luck, hope you get her going agi:Cheer:ne

Sad to here the happenings Bean...I was ancious to here how it was running after the build. As far as the popping goes...I only delt with one that had a similar problem but it was an obvious crank sensor issue.

Brent.

Bean I don't know if you will say but what were all your settings put on? What was your pressure setting on your smarty at? Your tst setting? and do you run a pressure box. Thanks for the help just don't want to melt my engine down. Sorry for the bad luck man

Smarty was on 7 with 2 on timming (most timming) tst on 3/0. Pressure on 1on smarty and no pressure box. I should have had smarty timmin on 4 but I had it up testing out to see if more timming would help with the pops and never reset it after I figured out it didnt help.
