Need a new clutch for my 01 6speed and wondering which dual disk you guys recommend. Gonna be used for towing and sled pulling. Kennys cheaper for the 3800# but is south bend that much better? Thanks

i have a southbend dd 3850 12cb and like it alot kennys are good clutchs to alot of guys use them also i would say flip a coin or go with the cheaper one

Sometimes you get what you pay for. South Bend's customer service is second to none.

i got a kennys dd and i havent had any probs out of it. had it in for about 10k and doin good. little grabby takin off in second but it is a performance clutch. and im still on my stock hydraulics. giv them both a call and talk to em.

Start off in first, both your truck and the clutch will thank you for it, the chatter you get is really rough on the center sections.

I have never run anything but South Bend, so I can't tell you how others act, I will say this, Peter gets amused when you call him and say "Guess what I did!" LOL As others have said, customer service is top notch, and I have no reason to complain about any of their product.

PLZ PLZ PLZ go with a kenneys! I have kennys weighted triple disc and proably paid as much for is as some guys pay for southbends dual disc.

Also on a side note i bet you NOBODY will come on here and say kenney's has awesome customer service, Wonder why?

But really when ppl start talking about customer service, it really makes me nervous.

Not true, last year, I watched a Massey explode a Kenny clutch and cut the tractor in half, bent the crank, etc and Kenny took care of him. Good guy.

I think Id stick with a SBC in the pick ups though.

HAHA I bet that was pretty cool to watch. I know alot of ppl swear by southbend but i think ill stick with kennys

I think hes not getting a clear answer , the weighted keenys is alot different from the borg beck type SB , Kennys sells those also I ran one for about 3 years it was ok but there made alot better now . Kman u run sintered iron disk wright ?

Yes, it is a weighted triple disk with sintered iron.

I have used several of Kennys clutches and never had any break like SBC clutches do. Peter takes care of the parts, but pulling them gets old. That is why I prefer the Kennys. Put them in once and don't worry about the dreaded anchor pin breaking, or a finger breaking like the SBC clutches do.

why are the fingers on the sbc clutch breaking im really sure i have a broken one on mine confirmed by a friend that broke a finger last fall but his clutch was also toast(not the best idea to try and light a 2.8 with a sovp44 200s and 4th 6speed 3.55s the clutch hates you) but i talked with peter said slide the tranny back and if a finger is broke send the pressure plate in and he would fix it for me. sbc has good service never dealt with kenny tho.

you cant drive a weighted clutch on the street as a dd tho correct but i might be wrong never used one

Kinda depends on yr clutch type usen a sintered iron they make 2 types , I use the very grabby ones and it kinda sucks ESP with tight GSK its like a hare trigger its either going or not . I may go back to the less grabby iron disk and a true5k spring

Bout how much are kennys clutches? Compare prices to the 3250 and 3600 of southbend?

well if you get a sbc 3600 u should just get a 3850 imo same price and daily drive mine and i friend daily drives a iron giant 4200 i couldnt tell the difference in pedal pressure between the 3850(pulled and daily driven) and 4200(it was brand new not pulled yet)

I give 1500$ for my Kenny's 3850 12cb clutch. I had a heck of a time with it. No engagement, then poor engagement once he reworked it( meaning two hands and a foot on the shifter LOL) It just never hooked up right either. This was one of his early ones and i have seen his currant ones and they seem to be much better. For what its worth, Kenny is a machinist first, clutch builder second. He machines the SFI flywheels and floater plates for his, Valair and Powerparts clutches. Seting one up to hook right is a whole other story. He is a nice guy and does what a company should do if there is problems. But it still cost me alot of downtime and money in shipping trying to get that thing right. Tim

That was me last weekend. Peter sent out a diaphragm style pressure plate to replace the lever style pressure plate...free of charge.

I drive my weighted triple disc on the street!

By all means go with southbend, if you like taking clutches in and out!
