Tighten lash to .007"intake and .010" exhaust. It will help. This assumes you have a stock cam. No comment on how tight lash will work with aftermarket grinds that question should be asked of the cam grinder.

Thats a little tight nick, would feel safer with checking clearance with it at .007 and .010, however have heard of people running it that low.

That's what I run. Looser breaks more stuff than tighter so long as you have a good grasp of what things are doing when hot and cold.
 
just be careful on the intake side because the intake ramp is much more violent than the exhaust ramp.

I actually got a killer deal on a complete 12 valve. 400 bucks an couldn't pass that up. I may still take you up on some parts here soon though. Thanks though
