I am getting ready to purchase a turbo and manifold setup. Looking at a 64/71 from E.D. and I was curious if anyone had some information on the new stainless manifolds and turbine housings. Are they work the extra $$$ or would i be money ahead getting cast pieces and then putting a manifold blanket and turbo sock on? What about running stainless and blankets? I am not positive on what stainless alloy they use but if it is T321 I would think that would be a pretty good piece at retaining heat. There is always the option of coating the manifold and turbine housing too. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Can you still get SS housings? There was some stuff that came out from HTT about some SS housings being counterfitted and all. Guess HTT and their supplier had a falling out.

I would go SS though!

ED sells the 2nd gen Stainless manifolds

A buddy of mine ordered a 66/71/13 ss from HTT here directly that was about two days ago.

Sorry to Hi-Jack... But I want a turbo sock and manifold blanket, where can one get one ??

When I got my twins originally, my secondary is one of the HTT series with a stainless housing. I liked how it performed. After about 9 months I added the turbo blanket to both the primary and secondary exhaust housing and also to the hot pipe between the two. While I never ran with a non stainless-steel housing, I did notice a huge difference in adding the blankets on.

Thanks guys!! I see what your sayin zstroken, Im not the biggest HTT fan and there local ! LOL

The housings are still available, just some some stuff went down from what I have gathered.

yes it did and they've since sued or are in the middle of suing the problem.

There's some nice stuff coming out of HTT

Jonas@HTT had told me last week that the current stock of housings they have are reserved for building new chargers and any warranty situations. When they get back to having a good supply of them they will be filling housing only orders. So both scenarios in this thread would be possible.

I ran with and without an exhaust housing blanket and manifold blanket on my current ED 62/68 with a 13cm SS exhaust housing. Trust me, spend the $200 or so for the manifold and turbo blankets they flat out work and couldn't be any easier to put on. Any time I can reduce my spool time by 100+ rpm and have the turbo shoot off to max spool faster for $200 i'm doin it every time. That's just my opinion.

I appreciate everyone's help and input on this. Now I just hope i can get a 13ss housing for my turbo.

Also, adjusting the bullseye style gate is not as hot :) you can do it on a turbo that just got done doing a full WOT run down the track with out burning knuckles.

Also, after I got off the dyno, there was virtually zero heat radiating from the motor. make an 1800degree pull and hold your hand on the manifold blanket during the run if you were not smart about possible crank and pistons making an exit :) In other words, dramatically less heat in the "Area" to be sucked up though the intake.
