Stand alone engine wiring

isn't the harness on the duramax a standalone harness anyway? You have a TCM,BCM and a ECM. If you took the engine and wiring and ECM and bolted it in something and supplied 12 volts to the ECM and the starter and added fuel would it not run then? Ya'll just have to excuse me, cause I am really thinking about this.
