stock horsepower

Most stock 99's dyno between 185 hp and 200 hp to the rear wheels depending on age of injection pump, type of dyno, etc.

235 crank hp doesn't sound too far off. I dyno'd an ’02 and got 195 at the wheels. Five-speed though. Like was stated, health of the truck matters too.

What does the transmission have to do with the hp at the crank? 98.5-02 SO trucks are 235hp, and the HO is 245hp.

Wasn't he asking about a 99 with an auto? If you want to tell everyone 1999 auto trucks came with 235hp, have at it bud.

If the guy asking the question cares to look, on the side of the engine's gear case is a data tag that will give the engine rating.

According to the nameplate on my dads 99 auto it has 215 hp and a hx35 turbo

And in 2001 they offered an ecm flash that brought it up to the 01' model year standards of 235 SO and 245 HO. The only difference is the pump.

Ah... I see.

I'll admit when I'm wrong but until you can provide a TSB that shows this reflash I call BS.

The Cummins tech at my local dodge dealer told me that when I asked him what the writing under my hood meant. And he told me that it was the flash to bring older model engines up to the current models specs. They are all the same pumps SO or HO the only difference is the electronics.

Edit: But you are correct that off the show room floor the autos were 215hp and the manuals were 235hp.
