What's most desirable stock turbo of the 2nd Gen, 24 valves. Wondering if a stock HO turbo is better than 98 auto? Got people asking about parts off my truck.

Stock HO turbo and your 98 auto will both be an HX35... It was I think 2000 that they went to the HY on the autos IIRC...

I'm with Forrest on this one, as best my little mind can recall all the 24V's had HY turbos, just used different exhaust housings.

1994 12v Holset WH1C 12 sq cm turbine housing
1995 12v Holset HX35W 12 sq cm turbine housing

1996-1998 12v Holset HX35W 12 sq cm turbine housing

98-00 5spd and Auto Holset HX35W 12 sq cm turbine housing

2000 Holset HY35W 10 sq cm single port turbine housing

2001-2002 ETC 235 HP Automatic Holset HY35W 9 sq cm (or 10 cm2 depending on how it is measured) turbine housing
ETC 235 HP 5 speed Holset HX35W 12 sq cm turbine housing
ETH 245 HP 6 speed Holset HX35W 12 sq cm turbine housing

The above is from http://dodgeram.org/support_pgs/diesel_ix.htm

It does show different boost levels on that page too... dunno if that is just from wastegate settings or anything else different on the turbo.

Great link, just has a little incorrect info about 2000 auto's having HY35's. I wonder if dodgeram.org knows that all holset exhaust housings have a cast number that indicates the sq cm. 9 or 10 depending on how you measure is CRAP. Holset casts that number for a reason!

Older HX turbos have 8 compressor inducer blades, new ones have 7.

I was asked recently about doing the HTT hybrid onna HY35 to get bang fast spooling like an HE351.
Is the HY35 exhaust wheel the same diameter as the HX35 exhaust wheel?

why don't you just run an HE351? better compressor wheel than the HTT HX hybrids, bang fast spool, and OEM availability

Thanks for the reply.
This guy has a good HY35 & exhaust to boot and is enquiring about making it hybrid.
If the HY has the same exhaust wheel, he can get fixed up much cheaper than buying an HE and making up exhaust to fit the thing for the same results.
Maybe the info is in the manuals I downloaded offa the Holset site.
