i have a full set of .131 and .181 seats and valves. Which ones would be the most streetable?

Either set are very streetable as they came in stock trucks. 181 will give you a little more fuel...

I wanna say 181 valves with the 131 seats are the preferred combo, but I can't remember for sure.

Sent from my phone.

I've heard that from more than one other person as well. I've got comp cut DV's in 131 seats.

Are comps not cut from 131's to begin with? I'm running 181's in 131 seats myself

Swaping valves and seats is not the greatest idea. I would run a 131 over 181's anyday due to the seat design.

My 181's made a nice difference over the stock 131's without any added heat or smoke when i was running them. Id just stick with the 181's.

My full cuts were pretty hazy even with my afc tuned, but I did like them

fat fingered using TapaTalk

when you guys talk about lapping. Does this mean lapping the bottom of the seats that rides against the barrel? Or lapping the valves into the seats?

I know there is thread with pics of the differences, but I can't find it.

Anyone have pics of what is being discussed specifically??

I have begun to wonder if some of my poor idle could be attributed to 181 DV's and unkown seat. No they were not lapped. I do have some 131's and seats...at least I assume they are a matched set.

They are, you got them from me straight out of the Junker Drag Truck. I was careful to make sure the valves and seats stayed as a matched pair at all times.

LOL I actually forgot where I got those, and was even surprised when I found them in the extra parts pile when I got the truck back. Thanks!!

Dv's come in matched sets just the same as b&p's...it's not the bore that's matched on dv's though, it is the sealing area (tapered area on top of the seat and just under the spring land on the valve). If you've swapped seats and valves without lapping them together to be sure they mate properly, your idle fuel delivery is more than likely off...I've seen some so bad that the cylinder will be totally dead at idle.

This.

Kool beans. One more thing I need to look into. It just lopes in gear and I have to have a high idle to keep it from dying in gear. I've been chasing the GSK around and mode some progress.

Guess I need to buy a socket for the DV holder now. :bang

I found my dv socket on eBay $25.00. Matco wanted $98.00 for theirs?!

What happens if you don't lap the valves into the sets?
