im replacing vp44 on a 99. Problem is the gear wont separate from the pump shaft. ive tryed two different pullers and bent and broke the grade8 bolts that thread in the gear and tryed heatin the gear, left the puller on there over night. still no luck! everyone ive done before pops right off??? anyone else ran in to this problem?

Ive hint the end of the puller with a hammer. ive crank down on the puller so much it has broke the bolts that thread in the gear

Hate to say this one, but are you sure you got the bolt out that is closest to the engine that you need about 6inches of extension and a swivel for?

Would that hold the gear on the the pump? Your referring to the bolt that holds the pump on to the engine correct?

Yes that is the one I speak of. Im Having a brain fart at the moment. Op, is this yOur first time removing the vp?

Will they still consider that a "good" core if you phuck up the threads ? I was told some places won't take it if you do.
