**The Official Winter/Off Season Sled Pulling Smack Talk Thread**

They have rules, cain't you read?

2" suspension travel, no FHW, different hitch heights for different sized turbos, engine mods limited to "chips, intakes, and exhausts"....and the list goes on....

No tanx.

You're right. That's why Savage won at Big Knob, with his Banks 6-gun.... :umno:

Soap Opera----"As The Turbo Spins"

Welcome to the next edition of "As The Turbo Spins", the continuing saga of championship pullers in NE Ohio and Western Pennsylvania and their quest for true happiness. As you will remember, the cast of characters include:
Sleddy, champion of some unknown year, who beat a couple other Sub 325 hp. trucks. It wasn't great, but he was the first Champion, and will always be known as "The God of Sledpulling". His troubles then started when he bought a trailer to haul his pulling truck, but had no truck to pull the trailer! The unit now sits high in the hills of Pennsylvania as a monument to his accomplishments.
Calvin Miller, 2005 and 2006 champion who made J-Wax famous as he used it before, during, and after each hook. In 2007, the truck lost its engine due to an influx of wax residue. Calvin lost his sponsorship from J-Wax, and the truck was parked in 2008.
Mat Cooper, 2007 champion, brought a Duramax V-8 to the winners circle. Mat's troubles started late in the 07 season when he tried to change the spark plugs in his torque converter. Over the winter, he became obsessed with rule books and engine building and accomplishes practically nothing for 3 years. He did however become "Internet famous" with two videos, one showing the entire front end of his truck exploding leaving parts scattered throughout downtown Mercer, and another of his truck pulling the famous "Blue Mack " pulling sled 3 times around the Stoneboro horse track then on South to Route 80.
Bill Bowser, 2008 champion. Bill had a great year in 08 with his very consistent running truck, "Old Blue". In later years Bill fielded a fleet of trucks including, "Old Blue II", "True Blue", "You Blew", "Way Blue", "Whats Blue", "Dam Blue", "Stay Blue", and "Too Much Blue". Bill became famous for running more "test hooks" in a single season than had ever been done before.
Dale Bennett, 2009 champion. Had a good year but tired of seeing Dodges bounce down the track. Dale campaigns for hanging weight for 2010 which came to be his downfall. He slips into obscurity, but states like General McArthur, "I shall return". He now maintains his sanity, or whats left of it, by watching videos of the 09 season produced by his son Pat.
Casey Gildersleeve, 2010 champion. Casey might have became a champion sooner if hanging weight would have came in sooner. His truck hooked well in 2010. After clinching the points championship at Clearfield, Casey gave the previous years champion a bear hug, causing many of his fans doubt on his sexuality.
These and other senseless questions will be answered in our next episode when we find out.............
Sleddy takes a Winter job running long hauls for Tastey Kake. His first run goes to Green Bay, Wisconsin. He is promptly arrested for wearing a No. 7 Steelers jersey. They throw him in jail and name him "Ben", Ben Dover.
He then finds out the real meaning of the word "Packer".
Calvin, after changing his truck to a full modified, finds out he has to drive a lot. He converts the truck back to street use, paints it brown, and does contract hauling for UPS. Runs next day 10:00 AM runs anywhere East of the Rockies.
Mat comes back to pulling in 2011. The 3rd time out he gets beat by a Toyota. He retires immediately to his farm near Butler where he is raising chinchillas and writing his memoirs.
Bill promotes an event featuring only his own trucks running test hooks. The crowd riots when smoke caused by rev-tuning in the pits drifts across the track, blocking spectators vision for 1 1/2 hours.
Dale, whose funds have exhausted from years of competition with Dodges, co-produces with Pat a Youtube video called "Chevy Duramax Tierod Fail". It is hoped that GM will sponsor the truck in 2011 in exchange for pulling the video from youtube.
Casey gets married in 2011. It lasts only 6 weeks and his ex gets the pulling truck in the divorce settlement. She converts the truck to a Bed and Breakfast. She cooks bacon and eggs on the exhaust manifold 5 or 6 days a week. She is looking for a boyfriend with a Mega-Cab in order to expand the business.
That's all for this episode folks, but remember, you could be the 2011 champion and become the fodder for the next edition of "As The Turbo Spins."

I'll defend John Savage by saying that he wasn't running anything that many of the rest were not.

You're exactly right. That's what I was saying. Matt is concerned with their rules, but I've never seen them open a hood. Pretty sure at Big Knob last year everyone pulled with the 28" hitch height, regardless of turbo. Wasn't talking sh!t on Savage, just pointing out their interested in the show, not the teching, not that I mind.

No biggie, Mat is concerned with everyones rules. :hehe:

Yeah, sorry for being the resident boy scout or whatever....I follow the rules.

You won't ever see me pull a "Kevin Barr," and now a "John Savage".

Whatever y'all can sleep with at night, is up to you.

Pops, they have called it "open" ever since they created a street class. I have no idea why they do it, but there are typos and bad grammar all throughout the rules, so it's consistent.

It's formally called "8000 Lb street legal diesel." The "open" part just signifies that anyone can come run it if you meet the rules.

You guys know all this, let's just dispense with the parsing of words...so Clinton-ish...

Damn thats a good 1! Whew!:hehe:

Why would Savage be illegal for the class? EFI instead of a handheld?

Judge for yourself, does the truck meet this rule:

"Motor changes that increase horsepower over and above the factory rated horsepower or that increase RPMs over and above the factory rated range will be limited to changing of chips, air intake system (K & N and others) and exhaust systems. Only O.E.M. injection pumps allowed."

So you change what, let's see: pistons, rods, heads, injectors, add a second pump, etc....does it meet the above or not?

Look, I don't want to argue with what y'all choose to do. I'm just saying, I don't believe FPP/NADM/COTPC 2.6 trucks should be running this class, and I won't run the class.

However, if such trucks show up and they're of the mind to not tech anything, they get what they get.

I see your point on that. A class that lets 2.6 and 2.8 chargers in but says you can't have injectors. It's no wonder they don't enforce the rules as written.

Yeah, sorry for being the resident boy scout or whatever....I follow the rules.

And what the **** is that supposed to mean? Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. So your saying I cheat. You better have something to back it up.
