Handle might hit the sump?
What's wrong with removing the rubber, trimming the handle, then replacing the rubber?
Napa has Line crimp plyers they wont damage the line. crimp it close to the sump install your ball valve after it. then you could use your ball valve to drain

I believe you will want to get a full port ball valve.

Mount the valve the other way, and remove the handle. I imagine I would remove the handle and keep it in the truck anyway.
Thanks everyone, I think I'll crimp things off, but just in case, I'll run it down to as little fuel as possible.
I don't know how 3rd gens are, but I ran 70 miles past "E," and still drained 3 gallons out LOL
