Fresh back from deployment, I thought I'd treat myself. Found a beautiful lifted f350 with a healthy twin turbo 12V living under the hood. She had an NV5600 (I just can't live with an automatic...), 4 door, leer shell, and was bathed in a deep glossy black paint.
bringing her home from the body shop (e-brake wasn't fully engaged... I kicked myself...), she started making one hell of a racket. I shut it down, and low and behold no oil...
shoulda been a sign to stop while I was ahead...
filled her up, and made it a few hundred yards.
had it towed to the shop. every pushtube was bent, cam was sheared off, timing case was split, valves were damaged, all the gears were chipped. And they found a gaping hole in the t-case.
Turns out it wasn't the KDP. PO had told me the KDP had been fixed. Turns out the bolt, and tab, had backed out, and prevented the KDP from doing any damage. it was still firmly seated.
So, new Hamilton cam from Cummins Performance Parts, Kenny's pulling parts cover, cam, and pump gears, plus valves, tubes, etc... Should get the truck up and running healthy again
Been lurking around the forum for some time now, looking at threads, trying to figure out what could have caused the problem, glad I found a lot of the vendors around the site, certainly has been a great help and helped me find a few upgrades for the future... so, thanks for all the help!
