Timing and duration for mileage.

Wondering what some have logged on the effects timing and duration on economy vs. power.

An example of low timing and long duration vs. high timing short duration. Engine for this would be operating between 1500 and 2500 rpm, most time spent at 1800.

My truck gets 15mpg no matter where the timing is..More low end grunt at 19 verses 28. Once you lift a truck you automatically loose 5mpg.
