well this is my first post here guys and gals. i was sent here by a dirtyblonde girl that seems to frequent your boards. heres my story.....
well about 9 or 10 months ago (10 thousand miles), i had a goerend tranny put in my truck. everything was fine up until a couple weeks ago when i was in the drive thru and when i let off the brake to let my truck idle forward, it acted like it was in nuetral and didnt move under its own power. so i gave it a little bit of throttle and it just revved up. so i sat there and about a second or two later, it acted like it slipped back into gear and was fine.
well this has happened a dozen or more times since then and also came out of lockup on its own going down the interstate about a week back, but hasnt done that since.
so today i dropped the pan and found my fluid was a nasty brownish purple color and smelled burned as heck. (see pictures below)
so i called dave and talked to him and he wasnt the most straight forward guy saying exactly what he thought was wrong (which over the phone, thats expected), but to me, it sounds like i ate up the torque convertor due to the lack of chunks of material in the pan (which would mean some bad clutches or some kind of catostrophic failure)
anyway, this is turning into a novel. lets hear some opinions on what you guys think it is and what i should do. mind you, daves shop is a solid 6 hours from my house so stopping by is kind of tough to do.
heres some pictures of the metal i found on the magnet, it was about 1/8th inch deep and in the second pic, you can see the fluid color
