what cooler setups are ya'll running?

what are normal temps for 48re (daily driving)?

I have one but, since I eliminated my aux cooler, my temps are about the same.... 140F/150F DD which is about normal for my DD. In hotter climates is probably higher. 180F/190F on the track.

It's a Derale Atomic

Triton,
Did you keep the heat exchanger below the exhaust manifold?

I use my stock Ford cooler which is about 3 times the size of a stock Dodge cooler and no aux cooler on the motor....mine is in the 160-170 range in warm weather....sub 140 when it's cold but that's not often in south Texas.
Bad thing with mine is...if I'm sitting in traffic or a drive thru or something with the truck in gear...it'll get up to 210-220 within 10 minutes or so.
I figure that 5 disc converter has a lit to do with that. It comes back down as soon as I start moving but it does have me watching that gauge real close sometimes. LOL

we removed the aux cooler also, and are currently running the stocker and a frame mounted exhange cooler similar to a finned deep pan????

we are still seeing up to 210* taken from the hot line? what do you recommend doing?

so is that typically normal in a built trans?

in my 97 i used a cooler from an 04 f350 its huge! ran it right in the front of the condensor and everything. it barely fits! for it to work u have to modify your hood latch handle.

yeah. i also have a 5 disc converter, and in trafic or with it not locked in town, it gets prety warm. like 170-190. but as soon as i start mooving it goes right down to under 100.

maybe a different cooler with a fan mounted to it like the one I have. I ran a toggle switch inside the truck for it. When it's cold out, I don't even need it on. In the summer I run it anytime while driving.

i have a built goerend and mine doesnt get that hot, but my temp is coming from one of the test ports on the trans. I just mounted my new Derale Atomic cooler last night, I still need lines and i'm gonna mount the temp sender in the hot line from the trans. I'll get some pics this wknd.

are you still running the main factory cooler?

my C6 runs about 120-140 depending on the day. On the track it doesnt even get up to temperature

huge cooler in front of the rad, 3/8" lines, no auxiliaries

It's always gonna be very hot coming out of the hot line on the trans. The converter generates a lot of heat especially in stop n go traffic.
What ya really want to know the pan temp. That's what's going right back into the trans.
I see 190+ on the hot line but the test port is usually 40-50* cooler. I have 2 gauges. Only because the Adrenaline came with one and i already had the other in the hot line.

Factory cooler with a double deep pan and I see 140* normal driving around town and sitting in traffic it's nothing for me to see 180-200* depending on outside temps and severity of traffic. When it was 110* all summer I was seeing 200-210* at stop lights. Reading is taken from the hot line coming out of the converter.

BD trans pan, BD tranny.... pod on the side of the block bypassed... running -8 lines off the tranny to a big fat flex-a-lite tranny cooler up front

takes awhile to warm up... normal highway driving stays around 105

bagging on it in town around 150's

goofing around in the mud and in the bush i can hit 180 or so

temp sensor is in the pan.... which sucks, but oh well
