I'm needing a auxiliary tranny cooler for my 02 to be mounted somewhere. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I was wanting to mount it in the bed but I do haul some things and don't want it getting hit. I don't really like the idea of under the body or between the frame rails but I have not ruled it out yet. So what do yall have set up on your trucks? How much did it run you and where did you get it might help a little bit. This truck is 2wd and is used to drag race.

Also what type of oil lines have you used?

the brand you use is your preference but, many do use Derale. I also use the Atomic cooler but, I think it could use to be a little bigger. My plan is to add a additional cooler inline. The one works but, I'd like to see the temps a little cooler.

Where do you connect the lines? Take the fitting off the side of the tranny and just run hose to and from the cooler and back into the tranny?

10-4, unless you have the cooler on the front of the truck too. Then you'll go from the trans to the front, back to the remote and then out to the trans

I turned my stock air conditioning condenser into a transmission cooler.

In this cool air that we have in Texas It might still be to hot for that.

triton, I do have a cooler up front I just worded it wrong :bang.

This is how I am going to run mine. I have the Derale Atomic cooler and just a Derale cooler with no fan for the front of the truck.

I think when picking a spot to mount the cooler you need to keep the lines as short as possible to avoid pressure loss. I mounted mine up front.

i mounted my derale under the driver side door...stainless braided lines from the trans to the derale to the stock cooler up front and back to trans...it has a fan on it but i have never used it...sitting in traffic in 80-90 degree weather and im around 170 degrees...after a WOT 1/4 mile pass i dont see much more than 180...cruising temps are around 130...again, no fan

Mine now in traffic will see 190* quick but if there's air moving over that little guy up front, it will sit at 150ish. In line to race with the truck in neutral it will go from 150* to 185*+ real quick. Of course its 95 -105* out. I will be using the fan.

I inquired about this and it's not a problem. My concern was the pump wouldn't be strong enough to move that much fluid that far. If anything, having longer lines is a benefit because it adds more fluid to the system

Thank you for clearing that up.

I was thinking the left front of the bed in the side of it would be a good spot.

I hope you inquired a good source!!

when it comes to transmissions.... Garmon, IMO is as good as it gets.

Just in case y'all haven't done so, consider putting a 1/4-turn ball-valve in the engine coolant line that supplies the transmission heat exchanger (the one under the exhaust manifold). That'll stop the engine coolant from heating the trans fluid when racing and make cool-down much faster.

Having done that, plus a Fluidyne fan assisted auxiliary cooler under the bed (1/2" ID lines) has me able to pull the trans fluid temp down to about 130* ~ 140* before each pass for better consistency.

Ive been wanting to do the same thing....
I want to get rid of ALL THE FACTORY LINES
A guy on dtr did it a few years ago ive had the part for a year plus

2 -08AN Swivil Hose 90*
4 -08AN Straight Hose Ends
1 -08AN Male-Female Fuel Pressure Adaptor
1 -08AN Male -1/2Tube
2 -08AN -1/4"NPT Flare to pipe adapeter
1 -08AN -1/2 Hard Tube Adapter
15' -08AN SS Braided Hose

I might of left out a fitting but this is supposed to be all that is needed to cut into the factory cooler and attach braided ss lines with jegs an fittings back to the trans.

I would like to add a derele cooler under the bed as well what else is needed?
Im tired of the factory lines they are junk ive replaced 2 and I saw one that has a slow leak at the clip last week.

What cooler derale cooler do you plan on running instead of the factory one along with with the #15950?? Or am I not reading this corectly? I just want to keep my trans cool and have braided ss lines that WONT LEAK.
