The rear output seal on my DHD is seeping again. 12-15k miles ago I had the same problem so I replaced the bushing inside the rear housing that the slip yoke rides in. I had no seepage whatsoever until a few weeks ago. So I bought a new yoke. I pulled my driveshaft out today to replace the yoke (but could not...was sent the wrong yoke), so I measured the OD of the yoke that is in the truck and the new one. There is less than 0.001" difference in diameter between the two yokes. I can't see that making a difference, but I highly doubt that the bushing is toast after 12-15k miles. Thoughts?

how bout the seal dude? I got a MOPAR one if u need it.. they always seem to seep a bit if you do alot of highway driving.. the oil pump in there fills the tail shaft housing up with a chit-ton of fluid..

I forgot to mention that. I did replace the seal with one from Dodge when I did the bushing...so about 12-15k on it.

well is it dripping, weeping, or sweating? LOL

I didn't think you were that dumb btw.. :hehe:

Its just 'seeping'. It doesn't leave a puddle, but if you run your finger on the bottom of it, you will pick up a few drops.

mine is "moist" and the t case only has about 2k miles on it, i wouldnt worry until it starts dripping, theres an oil pump inside the t case i think that has something to do with it

The 2 DLD's that I had in my truck both seeped fluid out of the tail shaft, even after the seal was replaced. Just keep an eye on the level of fluid in the transfercase.

Mine is leaking slowly on that side cover. I have never taken it off cause its not enough to mess with..... Just a thought.

make sure the fluid isnt overfull, they don't like to have constant fluid either! i filled mine the first time before installing it and got it over full! it leaked bad till I drained some out

I have had it slightly overfilled for most of its life and don't really see a connection between that and my seal seepage. I haven't added fluid to it since I first replaced the bushing and seal so it still is slightly overfilled.

My T-case is leaking and has been for a while, it leaves a drop or 2 when parked, but if you look up in there it slings all over! I have replaced the seal twice and the yoke has a little movement......

is that the bushing? could it cause i vibration? how bad is it to change? I have never broke into a t-case my self

You might also try welding the cap in place in the back of the slip yoke. I have been fighting a leaky DLD for years and this seemed to help some but it still leaks like a sieve from other places so I bought a DHD to replace it.

As long as you dont get into the planetaries for the low range stuff, the Tcases are pretty simple to pull apart, seal and put back in the truck. If you are careful, you can even pull the back case half off with it in the truck.

If you have pulled the yoke in and out of that tailhousing output seal it will leak. I need to replace mine also.
