Truck Rake

But you still have positive rake,. Until you slam your truck in the ass, like PTPPULLINCHASSIS,which goes to the dark side of negative or reverse rake, you are still raked!!

Next you guys will want to argue that you need every bit of moveable weight on the front...........

True on the rake. I have some new shakles that should fix that.

I know better than to put every bit of weight out front. Suprised? I actually do listen to you sometimes.LOL Different tracks need different weigth distribution. If the backend cant get enough bite to lift the weight then the weight out front is not helping that much. I said I tried a new setup at Stoneboro. Guess how much weight was not out front? Seemed to work good.

Once I finish the new hitch I will mess with hitch height to. My crappy old hitch will not go lower than 25 1/2" After watching what OSU Duramax did last year at Zanesville. I think I need to try it.

IT SURE IS LONELY OVER HERE ON THE DARK SIDE:hehe:
I HAVE MY REASONS FOR THE WAY I SET UP MY CHASSIS AND REASON #1 IS BECAUSE WE LIKE TO WIN:ylsuper:

Rake has allot to do with how the truck is setup. You can run rake level or negative rake and if you have a brain in your head any of them will work.

I have a 2wd gasser that is high in the back and I have a 2wd gasser that is low in the but. They both work allot alike and the engine is farther forward in one and one has a hitch that mounts behind the while the other mounts to the rear end.

If you look at mod gassers you will see allot of stock frame trucks still running. Some are level some are raked. The best tube trucks to look at are Profab and Profab Gearedup. Profab is setup level where Geared up looks level but the chassis touches the bed tarp in the rear it has major rake. They both run good and have two totally different setups.

You have to find what your truck likes and go with it. Just because your buddy's truck likes this or that doesn't mean yours will. Like said if you get a bad hook none of this matters but we try to get everything we can.

I know a Mod truck that ran louisville this past winter with sensors all over the truck. It was lifting the front 100% so that meant the front tires weren't doing anything. He has redone his hitch and now it is showing 40% lift on the front end and he is back to winning. That truck is setup level and all he done was changed the hitch.

Ok, I will throw in my $.02. If you can run a drawbar then the rake has to work with how you make the drawbar. You could have tons of rake and make it work or negative rake and make it work. If you run a receiver hitch and 26" hitch height then the rake will not affect it as much, either positive or negative rake. I believe it has more to do with how you setup the hitch than the rake of the truck itself. But this is just my opinion and I am sure that I could probably learn more, along with everyone else. Good luck!

If you look at most draw bar hitches you still have a bottom stop at the back of the frame. That is putting the pressureon the rear of the chassis like a receiver hitch.

Not much just practice what I preach and apply what I learn.
3rd overall in DHRA WS points in 2006. This my first year in FPP Prostreet currently 7th in points currently. Point Standings...

I am working on shorting my hitch. Not going to waste my time with raising the back of truck. I have already proven to myself that it pulls much better with the truck lowered. You can find my vids here. YouTube - UNCOMMONDIESEL's Channel

nwpadmax was runner up in FPP Street in 2006, Champ in 2007, Numerous wins and top 5s. Several top 5s in DHRA 2.8" He won NADM Superstreet at Stoneboro in 2008. No Brush pull crap. In a truck with no rake.

Watch him win here.

I guess we are all doing it wrong.:bang

I could spout of 5 off the top of my head with rake that beat you 2 every weekend. Look at most of the trucks ahead of you in points....are they wrong? No I think its all in how you set the truck up. I could post twice 5 times as many videos of you 2 getting waxed so dont start tootin your horn like your a pulling god. I havnt had much skin in the game the years I've pulled but I've learned enough and hopefully comes together with the new truck next year.

I'v ran a little b4 , this was probably my best pull I put 10 ft on the class but they said my hitch was Illegal cause it slid in the back of the receiver so I took out to keep the fuss down

Not trying to take away anything from the trucks in this video as they all seem to run great, but I wish we had tracks that long and sleds that light here, it allows everyone to get up their speed and then have to power it out at the end. Even the truck that never got on top of his turbo got the weight box to the end of the sled...

What kind of speed was that thing traveling down the track on the better runs? 30 mph? Looks like it was flying!

My point Dustin is is not the instant Footage gain that was said. Guys pull good with trucks raked, level, and reverse raked. Way more to it than adding lots of rake.

I was very pleased with that pull. Monday before that hook the engine was still on the stand. It did not start and move under its own power till the Wednesday before. I dont expect to be able to run right with Wilkins and Lorenz this year. The goal for 09 was to get it down track and be consistant top 10 and qualify for Canfeild. Mission accomplished so far.

A few more. Again not saying the more extreme the rake the better, I believe a decent amount is needed in a good setup. Also care to comment on Levito's setup?Agian way more to then just adding rake. If a decent amount is needed. Explain Scott Blairs truck.
Bruce runs a lift. To get the frontend geometery right and not break parts you need the frontend low. Bennetts run the same setup. It works great for them. My truck pulled better and better the more I lowered the back. When I drew it up and did the math I could see why. Now I have to shorten my hitch as I am not spinning out on tight tracks. Will it help? I think it will.

You going to be at Crawford? I see your new truck is a long wheelbase. What happened to showing us how a regular cab could run strong in FPP 2.6"?:poke:

That is a Love's new sled. I dont think he had much time with to know how to get it set. It was really easy off the line. Very smooth sled. In the pull off my log said 32mph. Actual ground speed I dont know. I would bet close to 30. When the pan hit you could feel the truck bit in and jump forward.:rockwoot:

Spouting off is your favorite sport! LOL Because it's all you can accomplish!

Let's see....you understand what exactly about truck setup? You understand so much that your truck hopped like a rabbit to the point where you quit pulling? Yeah, everyone should go to you for advice.

Got any wins Dustin? No?

You were gonna come kick my ass, and never showed up?

I don't mind jawing and debating with pullers I respect - but you aren't worth the time.

Yeah, people have beat me, sure. But it happens to you every time you go out.

I never claimed to be a sledpulling God, show me where I have. That's a total fabrication and you know it.

I raise the rear of my truck with air bags to put the hook point below the cross bar. Forgive me for my poor example. I don't have a fancy program to do it for me.

No wins? You mean no wins with FPP? I've won a handful of times, 3 with Northwest last year, another in antioch, 2 at yankee lake, and 3rd with NADM WS in stoneboro...not bad for having a STOCK CHARGER all year. And was in the money with FPP almost every hook. When was I gonna kick your ass? I remember Johnny spoutin off about bringing his wifes truck(:hehe:) to mercer last year...never happened though. And I dont want or need your respect, that dont pay the bills or put ft on the track. See ya next year when the trucks done.:Cheer:

My new truck is QCSB incase you couldnt read...thats the same wheelbase as a single cab long bed.:owned:. And its not my puller, I'm done pulling my DD, my gray truck is sold and gone and a new one is underway.

I knew the old one was sold. Got me on the wheelbase both are 140.5" GM CCSB are longer than RCLBs. I did not realize Dodges where so much shorter CCLB is 7" less them my GMC.

You won with a stock charger? :hehe: Who were you pulling against? Girls? Fords?

What class is this hypothetical truck of yours being built for?

I was looking for that thread put could not find it. Anyway. I told you if you wanted a peice of me I could have the wife's truck at Mercer. But I was not going to do it for free. You needed to make worth my while. I am not a charity. You where not interested in put some $$$$ on it so I did not bother. I also walked right up to at Mercer. Which was interesting in iteslf. I told right there that I was not hooking because the turbo on that truck was over 2.6" on the inducer. I was messing with a Hybrid VGT. You know that because I told you. You also know that I wanted you to make it worth my while to swap the stocker back on.

Speaking of paying the bills. Now that your truck is sold you could square up with Bohatch.

damn, im seeing a lot of interntet toughguys here!!!!! the one thing i notice with pulling, is theres always an excuse with the truck. i pull for ****s and giggles, but if u guys wanna lay $$$$ down, get yourself two wheels and ill spank ya 6 ways from sunday with vodka and oj in my camelbak....care to challenge? (this is gonna be funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny)
