So today I was accelerating onto the highway and was at like 40psi boost in 5th gear and the truck just shut off. Pulled off the road and it started right up again? The only thing I can think of is the shutoff solenoid must have fell. The truck had a cable for the shutoff for a long time and I had put a new HD solenoid on from Larryb's on like a month or so ago. It has been working fine until today. Any ideas?

See if you can replicate the issue. If consistently, then remove the solenoid and change. Tough to diagnose when it happens only once, could be a governor issue as well.

how much pull is the solenoid supposed to have? when I turn the key on and pull up the solenoid by hand it stays up but I can release it fairly easily.

Had the same thing happen to me when my air intake hose collapsed. Make sure your filter is in good shape

If it falls easily with the key-on, and the solenoid is fairly new, I'm 99% certain you need to lengthen the linkage about 1/16". The linkage is too short so it bottoms out on the pump shut down lever's up position before the solenoid's plunger is all the way up against the "hold" electro-magnetic coil.

thats a very good point, Ill have to try that tomorrow.

Well, it did it again today. Except I wasn't at full throttle. I was spooling in 5th and at like 20 psi boost it shut off. This time I stopped and checked the solenoid and indeed it had fallen. This is the third time this has happened. I had checked the solenoid adjustment awhile back, even took it apart, seemed fine. I'm stumped.

This^^^ If you make the rod to short, it will fall when you flog it. Adjust your linkage a bit longer.

had the same thing a while back and could not find anything, until i looked at the wires about 12'' back and found two of them were touching and shutting down the truck.

I've checked the adjustment, it seems fine. Its not pulling on the pump lever.

This sucks, Im gonna have to wire it up for now. It cant be good for the engine and turbo shutting off like this.

wires look good too, I guess its possible I got a weak solenoid?

I might just get a really good cable and have a manual shutoff again. At least with a cable I know for sure its not gonna fall down.
