Turbo Questions/Options/Trouble Shooting

if the tach is wiggling, it could be injection, not turbo

I agree...but everything is NEW and it ain't like I'm doing crazy junk. HO pump (factory replacement). NEW sticks. LP pressure is 14-15 regardless of throttle.

Would valve lash do any of this? That I haven't checked. 135K miles. Never adjusted.

some wierd VP44 voodoo? I don't know... compressor surge will make a woofing sound and show up as the boost needle jumping... but it shouldn't cause the tach to jump, especially with a manual tranny

id dang sure adjust the valves. it may help with your haze.. but if not, hey at least you know they are in back in spec, LOL.

The injectors have maybe .... 3000 miles on them since brand new. Surely to heck they don't need tested again....but that's an assumption. I was wondering if the bump from a PS to a PSP (65mm to a 71mm) would help but I don't want to do it if it won't. The noise is more of a woosh woosh woosh and RPM's surge and dance around. I know the BARK. Happens everytime I shift when blowing the doors off the Titan that likes to race. :D

I'm the typical engineer, I don't want to spend money unless I know it will work. But...I would like to bolt something on and try it for a week if someone has one layin' around....hint hint hint....:hehe:

I just crossed back into tx. I'll try to pick it up and bring it back with me sun night.

Sounds like my 02 has the same problem.... But it only does it when its cold. As soon as it reaches temp its gone. If I turn the comp off it almost goes away. I also have a new IP. It's been driving me nuts too. and I'm on stock sticks and turbo.

did you have them popped yourself? I learned this the hardway, my first set were pissing from the get go, but the truck ran good so I never thought anything of it, some popped at around 240bar and some around 270ish!

I really can't see why that 65mm(towing) wheel would be surging? that doesn't make sense unless it being smaller in ratio with the .8 a/r housing having something to do with it.......

what kind of boost do you see?
try tightening the wastegate a little or clamping it off and see if it goes away, we had one not wastegating to early and it caused a bad surge, the map groove in the comp housing could be to big allowing it to surge also...

No. I figued if I spent $700+ on a set of injectors, the dang things better be set right and work trouble free for at least a few years. Am I ignorant in thinking this?

I see 40-43 at WOT on level 5. I see around 4 psi while driving at 70 on flat surface on the highway and normally about 8 on hills. When I tow #10,000 of cattle on my 24' steel trailer and gross around #21,000, on a long hill with my foot into it to maintain 75 mph I see around 21 psi with it wound up.
