I just put a super B special on my truck, now it is extremely laggy and smokes A LOT, I know a larger turbo will have more lag than stock, but I don't think it should be this bad. CPSimpson did some afc adjustments but its still not where it needs to be. Does anyone have any input on simple tuning modifications or even different upgrades that I may need to get this thing to light quicker??

also I'm trying to have a 500-550 DD truck, that does some occational drag racing

you can do 500-550 on a 62

I don't care for the 64mm S300 wheel. Something w/ a custom comp wheel and/or tighter/custom tolerances might work better for you.

the BD turbos are built by BW with BW tolerrances. Not that they're horrible, but they're certainly not boutique tolerances, and, again, the 64 wheel kinda sucks IMO :o

Yep, my special is a smoky pig too. I just learned to live with it, and have a light foot.

But the power is there when it does light.

peak boost is 37 right now, but I havent messed with the wastegate at all to see if thats what its set at or not, would a 62/68 work better for what I am trying to do??

something doesnt sound right, i had a htt64/71/14 with 5x10's an it lit instantly now i have a 66 with 5x14's an its not nuthing like ur describing

Iit is definitely possible, I'll have to mess with it when I get some time. This might be a dumb question, but can a boost leak have a direct effect on spool up??

It should not spool as slow as you make it sound like it is. Especially with that low of timing and 5x.012's. My guess is boost leak.

This truck is running a monster pump and a super b special and lights really fast. Yours being a 12 valve is a little different but like I said before 16 degrees timing and 5x.012's should be a pretty quick spooling set up.

We are going to change the AFC spring and I believe it has a boost leak or 2....bad vband on compressor outlet. Truck also doesn't fuel real hard, loose 3k GSK, we have a 4k for it and stock DV's. It should light a lot quicker then it does.

definitely doesnt light as fast as the two trucks in the videos. i think we've came to the conclusion of boost leak. thanks guys!

I run the same turbo with the mods in my sig and it spools fairly well even at pretty high altitude. It will light just over 1500 RPM.
