twin setup

Most of the plumbing I'm getting will be homemade and if there is something i cant make, Source Automotive has all kinds of the twin fittings and tubing.

Why do you say you need headwork with twins? I'm getting ready to put twins on my truck, hx35 over ht3b. You think studs won't hold that?

Amore you'll be fine with head bolts that what I run in my puller. Just get a new set and use the Garmon method.

New bolts in. Torque to 50-75-100 ft lbs. Then allow 30 minutes to for the bolts to cool. Then every 30 minutes go up in torque 5ft/lbs till you get to 150 ft lbs. Order your head bolts from Jeff Mumau (Snedge) great guy good prices Cummins dealer who can drop ship to your door step. Make sure and put some high temp grease on the threads of your bolts before dropping them in. Oh I'm also gonna do this to my tow rig vs. studs as well. ;) :rockwoot:

Make sure and install some pop offs in your twins setup too.

HM! I looked all over there sight. They have great pictures of twin setups for reference too. I guess thats just like exhaust tubing????

I think im gonna go with an s475 just cause its cheaper.. I did get my head done with orings and studs so it better hold.I would like to get a s480 but i cant pay 1200 bucks for it

If your pulling the head off i would put a staight edge on it and make sure the head and block are not warped. I did 12mm head studs surfaced the head and blew a head gasket in less than 4k miles. One of those live and learn things i guess but i never checked to make sure the block was true. Blew her with 57lbs but if bolth are in decent shape studs and o-ring will take one hell of a beating before it fails. As far as the turbos go the 64/71/14 over an s480 is what i ended up going with. Its just a little slow on the spool (not bad in my opinion) but when they come alive you better hang on!

Here is my setup.62/65-12 with a S475 and 50mm External Wastegate. It pulls 60-70psi depending on where I set the gates at. Running a stock head gasket with A1 Studs and haven't had a problem in 2 years. Going to change out to a 64/71 here shortly to get some more air on the top end. My buddy is running a Super B special-S475 and Mach6's with a comp box and went 11.96 last weekend in a QCSB 4wd on 35s.

Hey Supracin is your primary mounted to the fender? Cant say i have seen a twins setup like that yet on a cummins.

Its just above it. My down pipe comes down through the inner fender and back over the frame. Kinda a different setup than most. My buddy did his 12v like this and I really liked it. Going to mount the batteries in the bed when I get my new tool box

Must be nice to have that kind of boost and keep your head. i hit 58lbs once and cracked the head in 13 places. but i have orings and studs now. that is a good looken setup BTW

Yeah it held together pretty good. Started as a HX35-BHT3B, then a hx35-s475 and now the finished project. Hope gonna be able to get it in the low 13's or high 12's with a little help from some NOS and a 64/71...

Mines gonna be a 64/74 and a s475,and maybe a little spray but we will see what happens im not looken forward to breaking more stuff, but i guess thats part of the game.

Yeah I am going to try and get a 64/71 or something close to that size here before the races all start up but it really helped out putting the 50mm external wastegate in with drive pressure and spooling the S475 sooner than it did before. I have been looking at the ZEX Pro Street kit and just buying an extra bottle. All I need is a little shot between shifts to help keep the boost up

Yeah, I have seen a couple set ups that run an he351 over either an ht3b or an s475. They are a great turbo, but the exhaust is definitely restrictive, and you will want an external gate for sure. However, for 750hp, even with spray, you will want a bigger secondary than that.

Here are a few pics of the twins I built. They are small towing twins, hx35/h2e, and want to be upgraded. But its still some pics of homemade twins.

Here are a couple pics when I was first mocking them up. I ended up changing the location of the intake plumbing to clear the IC tube.
