twin tuning help!! at a loss!!

while lower timing will help him get off the line it wont help his problem of low power. That setup should spool at 30* no problem with a 1800 stall converter. It just might suck this time of year starting in the cold mornings.

are you sure your wastegate is staying shut? try cranking the spring gate down tight to see if that makes a difference. Also check your inter cooler, stock dodge inter coolers get pinholes quite often, those leaks are hard to track down.

I will try tightening the wastegate. And I replaced the intercooler a few months ago because of a few pin holes, I'm going to order the holders and see if that helps at all. And then I'm going to advance timing to 30*. Does anyone have any tips on finding true tdc not using the pin?

Drop valve method, get it close with the pin, bar it back a little way, use a pry bar to compress one of the valves to slide a stack of feeler gauges under the rocker to hold the valve down. Bar it back over until you see the valve you are holding open move slightly, make a mark on the damper with something you can see like a white paint pen, (build a wire pointer that lines up with this mark on the damper) now pull your stack of feeler gauges out and bar the motor past TDC a little ways, then repeat in reverse, you'll end up with two marks on the damper and exactly half the distance between the two is true TDC.

Ok I advanced the timing some more and if felt like it made a difference. The only weird thing is that all of a sudden the truck wouldn't idle. I let it idle for a while after doing the timing and it was perfect. I re adjusted the idle and it's good now but I found it strange that all of a sudden while driving it wouldn't idle. The nut for the idle wasnt loose or anything. Any clues?

i got the truck dynoed finally and i made 637hp/1150tq, from what everyones telling me i should be into the 7s easy. im thinking about switching to a smaller delivery valve, the smoke did not clear up one bit on the dyno so i dont know if thats hurting me at all. any tips or advice? it was a loaded dyno and it made 80lbs which is what it makes on the street so im sure its accurate. thanks guys.

At around 5psi. Loosen up your afc spring so you see max travel at around 45psi. Apply regulated air to set your wastegate so that it just starts to open at around 15-18psi.

Agreed!

Timing is too high in my eyes, that mixed with cut dv's will make for a pig on the street. I personally never ran more than 24 degrees on any setup even at 870 hp and most of the time I ran at 20. Like Ron said on full fuel, usually had mine set at 45 on twins and 30 on a single Silver Bullet!

i did back to off to 45 lbs, as far as timing i would like to reset it around 21-22. what dv would you recommend?

Have you had any luck yet changing things out? I would say .024 dv's. I don't have 1st hand experience w these but has been recommended quite a bit. My set up is similar to yours and I originally put down 430/1150 IIRC. That was w 10.5* of timing and a 100 plate full fwd. Are you mainly going after numbers or driveability ?

im goin after numbers the truck is not daily driven. im thinking about a set of 024s or westons 7mm

I didn't get a sheet, I tried emailing the guy to get a copy of it but I haven't gotten a response yet.
