I have hx35/ht3b with external tail waste gate.also with boost fooler adjustment knob. ok here is the problem i cant get these chargers to lite any were near a friends truck with hx40/s400. i have played with my boost control knob and turned it to full boost witch in return i would have thout would have closed the waste gate witch would make the hx35 lite instant but it didnt. i got plenty of fuel just dont understand why it wont lite instant and rip the tires off. any info would be realy great.
 
What mods are on the truck? What's the timing at? What size housings on the turbos? Any exhaust leaks? How do you have the wastegate plumbed?
 
What size is the exhaust housing on the HT3B? If it is too small the the HX35 won't light so well.
 
mack rak plug, 370's, pump is guted. to be honest im prety sure i dont have to much fuel. the converter is tight but dont think its to tight at all. The waste gate is befor the hx35 and extra air blow off from the gate is bleed to ht3b. i wish there was a way i could tell if i had the right lines in the right order to the gate. i dont have induvidual turbo gauges set up on truck Yet.but if it is the waste gate is there any way i can cheak it to make sure it works properly.
 
another thing is when i mess with the boost control knob i see more boost but realy no diffrence in spoil from all the way open to all the way closed.

Ill bet your drowning the turbos out with fuel. Put the AFC back in, mod it, and get it tuned in.
 
Which turbine housings are you running? I would guess too much fuel too soon. I recently sold my DDP4's and put my stock 180 injectors back in for now. With a tight AFC setup I can spool my 40/3b combo to 70 psi by 2000 rpms, and I'm running 18.5/32 cm housings. It's all about when and how the fuel is presented.
 
not to sure on housings on ht3b but the hx35 im pruty sure is still stock. i had the afc in and messed with it and still samething and then had the pump fine tuned. and as for downing the turbos i realy dont think so i have had a few trucks in the past realy moded up and smoke out realy hard and lit the turbo like that. and this truck i'd be lucky to have a decent amount of smoke building it up. has any one had any trouble with external waste gates
 
Love me external gate. Is it a model you need to hook drive pressure up to? I didn't know that the first time I hooked mine up. The combined drive pressure and boost pressure opened it up at like 5 psi.
 
close the wastegate completely (disconnect the lines) and try again. Are your belching black smoke when you take off? I get a small cloud if I stomp on it but it clears up in about 2 seconds.How many rpms you running in your "slow spool" runs?

I had a similar problem and it was the wastegate on the hx35 turbine housing. I drilled the hole bigger and all the way through and the flapper got stuck and was opened 1/8". It ran but spoolup was slow and low boost egt's were hot.
 
either you have too much fuel to soon or your wastegate is opeing too soon and you are just trying to spool the 3b. i had the same problem. fixed the wastegate and now i can pull 50psi by 2000rpm with my quad adr on lvl3.
 
Cumminalltheway, is that box only stock injectors? Thinking of doing a 35/14wg-3B on my 99 tow rig to lower egt's and have more usable power can only tow my puller on lvl 2 now it gets to hot on the hills on lvl 3.
 
no thats with 200s and a stupid HO pump. I am all tapped out for fuel with this HO. Lookin for a SO at the moment. sorry for the hijack, back on topic
