What digit(s) denotes the year differences?

91 non-IC vs. 91.5 IC -
98 12v vs 98.5 24v -
01 drum vs 01.5 disc -
04 555 vs 04.5 600 -

07 5.9L vs. 07.5 6.7L -

Feel free to add what I left out, as I'm still green when it comes to the '03+

That helps but I'm looking for the actual numbers that denote either a 98 12v or a 98.5 24v, etc..

The 7th or 8th digit (I forget)is the engine code. You will not be able to decode drum/disc from the vin, the dealer can via the last 8 that are the actual vehicle serial number.

90_________ 8

91_________8 non intercooled_________C intercooled

92_________C intercooled

93_________C

94-97_______D

98__________D is 12v__________6 is 24v

00-02 _________6 is SO__________7 is HO

04____________6 is the 555 ______________C is the 610

07___________C is the 5.9______________A is the 6.7

Awesome Roachie thats what I was looking for! After posting I figured the defference between 01 and 01.5 with discs would just be month manufactured. Ya know what month that is?

And according to dodgeram.org, the 8th digit is engine code.

June I think, not real sure. I know my father truck was built the same month as mine and his has drums, mine was built in July.

I should note that I have seen an early 04 truck with a Vin W (v10) that had a 610 in it. And It had been that way for a long damn time.
