So Im thinking of adding one more addition to the truck....Got a good deal on a Dodge 1500 guage cluster, but Im not sure what needs to be done to make it work.

Is it just a screw in, plug in the guages, or do I have to do some custom wireing? Or is it too much of a pain and better to run an aftermarket tach for ease of install????

Just plug it in. What year is it out of? I am pretty sure it needs to be out of a v8 which most are.

I think in 2001 they had a significant wiring change. Know an 01 that put a 98.5 in and the high beam light was on all the time.

If it's just a plug n play, then maybe we'll just plug it in and see if it works for sure.

Faker thinks it's a good deal, but I haven't told him how much I'm charging him for all of the AN fittings that I gave him also. :poke:

Maybe one day he'll figure out the pump issue and be able to get the tach to move.....

yea prolly so because the ECM still reads the same tach signal and just puts out a voltage to the motor in the cluster. on the pre-ecm models the cluster is prolly built for the engine and must get the tach signal right from the pick up on the balancer

Actually the ECM communicates with the dash via the can network. I see why you Ppumped it now. LOL J/K

LOL :Cheer:

I'm with ya TJ!!!

I'm just waiting on tranny parts and a fuel system that will hold up to the new p-pump swap!

Back on topic...I bought a dash cluster form someone here (I forgot who), and it is a different design from my '99, older style i believe. I also saw on a thread somewhere around here (and I can't find it again) someone stated that it wont work on my truck... Can somebody refresh my limited memory?

Im thinking Im going to go that way with it Dave. I just dont want to get into a wireing nightmare!!!

still needs a recall tach for itpa
