While I had the covers off today for a retorque I notice 9 of my valve seals had popped off and were up by the retainer. I'm trying to figure out what would have cause this. Thoughts I had were maybe the extra lift from the new Hamilton cam or the added rpm from a 4k GSK. Any thoughts?

both... i have an extra set of the marine style i never used that have the metal holder that go under the vavle springs..

These have a metal band at the bottom and a metal ring at the top.

the marine seals have a flat metal band that sits under the bottom of the valve springs. they cant pop off without taking the spring off first..

IIRC this was a fresh engine? I've seen the seals stick to the valve stem from not having enough oil on initial start up. Put some oil on the valve stem's and seals and press them back on and recheck them after putting some miles on the engine.

Like DEZLFREK said the top-hat style has a lip that sits under the valve spring. I think that is the preferred style but you might have to cut the pocket a little to get them to fit. The two styles are in this picture:

Ok I see the difference. I pressed all of them back down and lubed the stems. If they come off again I'll look into the other style of seal. Anyone have a part number?

The ones that sit under the spring require the head be machined where the seal sits down over the stem.
