Best vid post of the month! ....Sooo much to enjoy in that one!!!

Here is the second one: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRg6qZzUXaM"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRg6qZzUXaM[/ame]

No T&A in this one though..

I want to know how he can touch the pedal with 3,400lb-ft on wet roads...

Traction control? Boost/fuel limitations for certain gears? Or just excellent driving?

Judging by the giant sigh of relief and closed eyes at the end of the video, I'm guessing there is no traction control.

Not to be a smart ass... but you're not going to get a lot of traction control in any vehicle that drifts.

That video made the one I posted look like preschool day care. That dude has some cajones.

I read the thread earlier but forgot, did you say what that thing weighed?

15,870lb give or take depending on what the driver had to eat...lol

Thanks Guys :Cheer:

The best thing is when you are required to have a hemet on to drive your street rig...

Its nice to see a factory backed big truck putting down some awesome numbers, shows they really are interested.

I do have to ask though, how many of the parts in that engine are from a volvo marine engine, and when they get the bugs figured out are there plans on making these "hot" part available for sale to the public, cause Im sure the guys with these engines on the roads are sick of having their clocks cleaned by tuned CATs and ISXs.

As for factory backed its kinda that way, we dont have a budget for it and the truck always come 2nd to reg test work. Most stuff on the truck was to be scrapped, so we didnt have to buy anything. Now that the truck seems to be running well it looks like it will be recognized by the directors of product development and we may have money and time to put toward the truck for 2012 barring the world doesnt end...

Penta Marine parts include only the cam and injectors. No plans for performance parts/upgrades for Volvo engines. That would be illegal for on road use.

Here is the thing though, all you would have to do is make the part numbers available to someone and get them out there, then it's off your hands, the customers can do what they want from that point on.

While it may be against the rules, it has yet to stop any of the caterpillar owners from throwing marine parts in their engines and building 1100hp engines that can run up and down the road working everyday. Also, they would have to get caught first, it would be no different than what you are doing by driving your truck to the track. Just my 2 cents.

Don't get me wrong I've seen some old mechanical Cats and Big Cam Cummins motors make some impressive numbers. But an 1100hp daily driven ELECTRONIC work truck? Seems a bit of a stretch. Not callin you a liar just sayin I'd like to see it, actually it would tickle me to death to see something like that.

The truck in third place put that to the ground with a busted clutch, in may at Antrim diesels dyno day he did over 1300 to the ground, with his street setup it is a little over 1100 and very drivable according to him, he hauls rock around Virginia for a living with it.

Great runs!

BTW - another semi truck data point is Gord Cooper from Calgary. He said his best is now 11.80, and he was running consistent low 12's in poor conditions in Calgary over the weekend (lousy traction and air).

The 2nd place guy Brett Hamilton was there also. Always a very good turnout of trucks for Antrim Diesels Open House. The PDI Truck smacking down 1670hp was just stupid....

As for the other thinigs you have valid points. Really a guy can make 1,000hp with a 16L Volvo pretty easy with 2 chargers and maybe 1,000 with a single and nozzles. We have ran over rate test on engines meaning make ecu tweaks only and make over 700 flywheel for hours at a time testing parts.
