Vp44 questions

I priced pumps for almost 2 weeks and found that most were $1050 - $1250. As long as you don't see any real problems, I'd leave it alone...unless you got money burnin' holes in your pockets...which I don't ever have that problem. $.02

If I had that problem, it would be a problem for no longer than the time it took to empty my pockets, so in hindsight it wouldn't have been a problem to begin with. But then again I've had that problem, and quickly made it a problem of the past, and can't wait until the problem resurfaces down the road. Hopefully that road is short.

I've been talking to Jeff about this same issue for a couple weeks. I'm pretty sure mine is worn out and causing my timing to be off which is affecting my fuel mileage and performance. Its one of those things where you just know your truck and you can hear that something is off. Sure enough, Jeff hooked is fancy computer up and took it for a drive and every so often it throws a "communication failure" code. His advice was simple: If its not going to kill the bank to put a new one in, just go ahead and do it. With these 24 valves, replacing a VP is inevitable. I know I know, some guys get lucky and go 300+ miles on them.... but then theres the rest of us. And from what I've heard, a new VP can give the truck some more pep and better fuel mileage. I'm getting mine done Friday. Better to replace it now and put your mind at ease than to have it fail miles from home. Just my $.02
