Being I might be looking at a dead pump do these 2 interchange and what is the difference. Is it worth buying a Hot Rod pump or not?If you get a hot rod is their any other changes to injectors and related that HAVE to be done?
LOOKING!:poke:

just stick with a SO pump.....a HO is not a good choice.....IMO take the extra $$ you will save over a HRVP and put it towards a set of injectors

SO pump and injectors

FWIW, I've got an SO pump that Im gonna swap as soon as my stock HO dies. From what Ive gathered its a direct swap....

I have replaced a bunch for customers and always put back what was on there. I have all the fuel I want so I don't know that I need a hot rod one.

I have a SO on my truck (2001 HO)...makes about 30 HP more with a wire tap. The HRVP is basicly a HO cam ring with SO plungers, so peak HP is about the same as a SO.

Best bang for the buck is a SO pump.

how can you tell the differene between an HO pump and a SO. because whn mine dies. im going to put an SO pump, because the SO pump combined with my edge comp will make more power correct???

SO 235hp were auto trans and HO 245 hp were standard trans.

Stamping I think FWIW, The SO has a 27 and the HO has a 28. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I heard that some ecms don't like the swaps. and belch codes. Some people have good luck. I too would like to replace mine with an SO pump, but don't want headaches if I do. Anyone have more good info....

was a direct swap for me, no codes , nothing. didn't really gain that much as far as peak hp but i think i'm at the limit of my injectors? lost a little mpg that's it.

Not a problem. Done a couple of trucks and none have had a single issue.

stick with the SO form what I have gathered form all these guys and poeple I have talked to you will support just as much power and it is more reliable.

well in need a so pump now badddd. mine died two days ago any ideas. and should i have some one put it on or is it possable to do it yourself

Call up midwest fuel injection. They'll get ya set up with a pump.

They are very easy to install. Just as easy as injectors. Go to youtube.com and search for VP-44 Removal and installation by diesel-dan. Step by step video on how to do it.

SO pump

I thought I would try a so pump, just to see if it made any improvement, had my ho pump sold, well it must have lost 70 or so hp, by seat of the pants feel, engine was quieter, smoked very heavy, but it would not run, 3600 was peak rpm with adrenaline and smarty, was turning 4k easy, flashed different programs into adr and smarty still no help, so I done a quick change back to my ho pump and all is fine, I think fuel timing is very different between the two, so pumps do flow more fuel, ho pumps have higher pressure, so now its back to the drawing board,:bang
