I have a 12V & have been living in that world for years. My buddy sold me his 99' 24V 3 years ago... a bit neglected & he had dead pedal & was getting married etc. Got it for a song. It has lived in my shop for the last 3 years do to me not having time etc. Now over the last 2 mons I have been putting quite a bit of detailed time & money into the truck. I have searched comp d for 3 days now & I think I am getting the low down w/ what plagues the 24V. The truck is set up w/ the following:

- Stage III jammers
- Brand New HTT 64/65/13
- Edge Drag Comp
- FASS
- ATS Full billet auto w/ controller
- Brand New Timbo APPS replacement voltage set to 0.667

Truck runs & idles fine, no dead pedal etc. At idle fuel pressure is 24psi & I am throwing NO codes. The problem comes in when I accelerate to WOT. Truck makes ZERO power & accelerates like my g-ma's 84 caddy... SLOW! Boost barely hits 27psi & fuel pressure only drops to 15psi, no smoke. So I am thinking this is a bad VP correct? The reason why I am confused & posting this question is that everything I searched & read here on comp d shows very different symptoms for bad or dead VP's. Also back when my buddy had the truck w/ only a HX40 on it the truck pulled hard. A little help & insight would be appreciated as I am kind of new to the whole VP world.

Thanks Josh...

No boost leak first thing I checked. I will check the waste gate & MAP in the morning... one thing I forgot was that when stepping into the throttle before spool up there is really no smoke (as in overfuled before boost) that is why I was thinking funky VP. Make sense?

Josh

Mine doesn't really smoke with what I have stacked on it, a tst comp and an accel torque module, but the hx35 spools like crazy and can peg 40psi.. U may try a boost controller of sorts to limit what the wastegate sees. Or double check your taps onthe pump wire, did u use a stealth cover or a vampire clip?

Update

Sorry guys last night my posts were late & I was tired. I forgot to add that the Speedometer & odometer are not working as well. Not sure if this has anything to do w/ my problem but I thought I would include as much info as possible. I will get time later today to check out some of your suggestions. Thank you again for all the quick help!!

Josh

Vehicle speed sensor on top of the rear diff might be the cause of the speedo not working.

I would verify that the edge comp is working properly. Check the pump tap and the ground.

Get a new sensor for the rear while your at it. The 01-02 engines need a speed signal fuel, seems a 98-00 does too but I'm not sure. If the PCM isnt seeing speed I may just think your doing nothing.

You sounds like you're in my truck lol. My VSS is out for the speedo, if you have a drag comp they've been known to randomly throw your truck into a limp mode (I can certainly testify) it will also do that if the map doesn't see the right voltage. Your truck with a FASS should only run 15 pounds or there about. 24psi is pretty high... sounds dangerous for the pump lol.

UPDATE part II

I really appreciate everyone's promt input & help w/ my problem. Just wanted to give a quick update. Unfortunately I have not been able to work on the truck as planned so I have no real news. Tomorrow I will have time for sure. HOWEVER today I did take time at lunch to purchase everything I need for a drive pressure set up & a new speedo sensor for the rear diff. I will pull the edge as well & check it out on the scope. As for fuel pressure, thank you for the insight, however I have a question. Both times it was mentioned that it was too high their appeared to be some laughter as well. Am I missing something? I will do a search for proper fuel pressure, but some serious input would be helpful as well. I actually have a video at idle of the fuel pressure at idle... but I cant remeber my photobuket login.

Thanks again all!

Josh

I got the air dog 150 it can run up to 46psi! Just because i can doesent mean i will get more power. Actually in the long run it will ruin my vp44 diaphram like mentioned above and i cant be certian on this one but i heard it can blow out the return seals and fuel starts to leak. The pump is designed to run between 10-20 psi supply fuel pressure. mine get set to 20psi for off road usage and the rare times it sees the street it goes down to 15psi. I hear p pumps can run higher pressure but again not for sure i havent messed with them much i just know they flow a whole lot of fuel.:rockwoot:

To me it acts like the map sensor or the VP. Also from what I have gathered 19-20lbs at idle is all the fuel pressure a vp likes. I have experienced this with a map sensor. A friend has a truck with a bad vp that also experiences something similar.

If I was you I would check out the "Timbo" APPS. Unplug a conventional APPS and see what happens, deap pedal. I've never hear of such an APPS (not saying it's bad) I would check there first.
