weighted clutch question

Thanks Dan. I dont mind the learning curve but here in IL where we dont get all that many hooks each one is too good to waste. Im my own worst critic so when things dont go my way i start thinking i wish id kept my old dual disc and to top it off i wouldnt have to answer the " what happpend " question 1400 times. I even had a local guy that knows me screaming from the sidelines " need more boost Tim, build mor boost " thanks Boomer, thanks for telling me what i need to do.LOL Since he called me by name everybody in the crowd knows that he knows me. Oh well thats part of it i guess.

i cant wait til i can get a weighted clutch in my truck. im tired of not being able to get my truck in and out of gear at the end of a pull.

I really like the way this one acts as far as going into gear and feel. I did one little revup in the drivway and thought this is going to be nice but the pull didnt work well. I assume most of the 2.8 guys run this style clutch so i figured it shouldnt take to much to dial in.

I'm running 1/2 inch on both sides, It took me a while to get it where I wanted it, we didnt cut a hole, just pulled it everytime, I leave out about 4500. It will also have a lot to do with how your levers are made. some are heavier than others and extended further out simulating wieght.

Yes Dan it does have kennys redesigned fingers. I was hoping for 4500+. once you got yours set how do you like it compared to the old dual disc?

Now that I got the weights figured out its sweet, I'm slipping it really hard off the line and I can actually still change gears at the end of the track. The dual disc wouldn't change gears and the end of a pull. It does take some getting use to but once you do it's all good, but I too went through too low launching a couple times as well.

Thats what I am dealing with and its getting annoying.

Well i took a 4'' holesaw and drilled the pilot smack in the middle of the bellhousing and then cut the big hole. This worked great and deff made it easy to adjust weights. One thing i did notice is the throwout bearing is touching the fingers just enough to make it spin all the time. After i get a couple of hooks on it where i will have to pull the tranny to remove a couple shims from under the pressure plate, i will cut down the flat part that rides on the fork to gain some more clearance.. You will deff need Kenny's modified fork or mod your own cause it need all the room it can get..

I will get pics sometime soon but hopefully tonight i can hook it and have good vids to show.

You can tweek the factory fork, I will assume its already shaved and possibly notched. I bend the pivotball side .300' and the slave side .400" so it will allow the fork and bearing to set back further. I always check and make sure the fork slides back and forth before putting everything together, then I know it aint touching. If it's touching it can cause the clutch to slip down the track. Also taking shims out of your clutch will put the levers further back towards the tranny because it will have less pull down.

We are getting more rpm's, more HP and pulling in higher gears. sintered iron disc can take alot more abuse its still very challenging for a dual disc in a high rpm truck pulling a super gear. I was amazed at how I can change gears at the end of a hard, high RPM high gear pull. it's like it didn't even phase it. but I know it did. I have at least 30-40 pulls, several boosted launches and It's still working great.
