So I was driving home today and went around a corner and when I started to give it more fuel it started to miss and sputter. So I took my smarty off and didnt do it again. So after it set for a lil I started it up and as soon as I started to push the throttle it did it again then stopped. Didn't so it again on the way home. Could it be a injector or turbo?

Can you describe the noise in a little more detail?

Its hard to but it was also making the truck surge a lil bit. Im going to see if it does it togay.

No codes. I talked to my uncle and his turbo went out on his 04.5 and told him what it was doing and he thinkds its the turbo. I checked the wheel and it has play in it now where b4 it was tight.

Sputter and surge would make me lean more toward the VP.

What does the boost gauge do when you hear the nosie? EGTs?

Sounds like a fuel problem. Whats your fuel pressure? Is it maintained under load? It could be another dead vp. My buddies 01 had this problem of surging and cutting out at higher speeds. The truck didnt die but would fall on its face. Vp was dead.

Well I had a vp go bad on me b4 and this is doing something different. I just have a flashing light for my fuel pressure and it never blinks.

If you lift pump is failing, it will cause bad driveability issues.

The VP seems to have no problem pulling fuel through the factory pump. However, it can't pull fuel through FASS pumps (and I assume not through AirDog and similar pumps).

Do you have an actual fuel pressure gauge, or just the light? I would start by checking all of the fuel lines to the lift pump, and then from the pump up to the engine. See if you can find any kinks or issues along the way. If you don't already have an actual fuel gauge, get a test gauge and see what you're getting up at the VP. It would be good if you could rig the gauge so you could see it while you drive, and see what the fuel pressure does when the issues show up.

If you're actually seeing 5000* egts, disregard everything I've said in this thread.

MY egts are very high sonce its a stock hy35.Im going to a quick spool HTT 62.

No i just have the light. I am going to buy a gauge. I have been wanting to but work has been down so im just saving. But now I have a reason to.

Thanks for all the info and I will check the lines out!

Do you hear the FASS System running? The injector pump will pull fuel but it cuts the life of your pump if the lift pump is dead and not operational. Check to see what pressure you are getting and if the FASS system is running.
