Welded D60 Pics

My 01 has the CAD Dana 60.

What side effects do you get when you weld the carrier... I run 582HP and put 42K miles on my truck every year, but would like more than a 3 wheel drive at the drag strip... Is welding an option for me and what are the street manners??

I wouldn't weld a front end that is driven that much on the road! Even in 2wd every thing in the front end including the drive shaft will turn all the time...and if ya have to lock her in ya can't turn! Also it may be a little tricky on the drag strip tryn to steer it Welding is more for offroad use only. Id get a selectable locker of some sort in your case...

Since he has the CAD it won't be that bad... Especially if he runs a cable to the CAD....

Yes the left front shaft and the driveshaft will always turn, but the right won't when the CAD is unlocked. SHouldnt' be much different than running an '02+ without the CAD and an open D60.

No it wouldn't be bad driving in 2wd but when he needs 4wd, thats when it's not so good...and im thinkn if he got out of shape on the drag strip...:doh:
 
you wouldn't be able to drive it unless you were going straight.
 
Make sure what splines u have , I almost bought those cheap spools until I found out there only 30 spline my 01 and up are 32 spline, they might make a spool now but I didnt see one then , so I welded mine and I drive it on the road yea driveshaft turns but no biggie , this is the 2nd one I done the first was stick the next was mig witch I highly reccomend alot less clean up and no worries of hidden slag

They still dont make them for 32's!!!! Well I cant find them. Just 30's and 35's
