What clutch to get?

im kinda wantin to get an nv5600 and 271

the 5600 is great but parts for it are super expensive and hard to find. the nv4500 on the other hand has parts readily available at reasonable cost, and they make aftermarket parts for it too that are stronger.

also the up front cost of the 5600 is high...i know a guy selling one right now, his asking price is $3900 for just the tranny. (not saying it will sell for that)

as stated if you get a 271 you will have to flip it, and do a bunch of work to it to make the oil pickup work so that it will not burn up when being run upside down.

i ve got a ford dana 60 so that would be the easy part. but i dont have the most money in the world so it looks like ill probably have to stick to the 4500. thanks for bursting my bubble on that one haha. but really thanks for the info tj that guides me in the right direction. a 6 speed 1st gen would be really cool tho!

What ring & pinion is in your first gen currently? 4.10 or 3.55?

Well running the ratio's on Grimm Jeeper if went with a NV4500 & your 205 Tcase has 1:96:1 gears your final drive running 3rd Low would be 13.42 which would be awesome!

My final drive in my 97 with NV4500 & NP241 is 16.07 which is QUITE slower...that's why I'm eventually going to 4.88's so I can get my final down to 13.22 in 4th low! ;)
