So if i was looking for a strong complete front end or if i had to build one what should i look for? want to convert a 2wd 95 dodge to 4wd, should i just find a junker 4x4 and swap everything or should i look into something stronger, will be used for many different things mostly street maybe a little track time, etc, any opinions?

I'd want a Ford high pinion Dana 60 up front, Dana 80 out of a manual dodge would be strong and easy.

00-02 Dana60, it have bigger brakes than '94-99.

And steering components from '98-99 truck(T-style)

Yes. They come on the Ford 60s...

If you want strength the Dodge axles are not your best option in Dana 60s

Get MOOG everything for the ball joints, tie rods ends, and track bar.

A stock Dodge Dana 60 out of any 2nd gen will be more than enough for any street truck.

I know lots of pullers 500+ hp that have never touched their Dana 60's.

eh? She will be putting quite a bit more down than that, will it still handle it?

Im not sure at what point the axles break in them. I have seen a lot of 1k hp trucks with Dana 60's in them though and they dont seem to have a problem with them. They may have bigger axles though? Im not sure.

ok 10-4 bryce ill take a look into that as well, appreciate the info

No problem. I don't know axles but I do know suspension and steering components a tad. If you need help with any of the part numbers let me know.

What are ya building anyways? Puller...racer?

dyno/racer will see some street time, I'm pretty much trying to build MY ideal dream truck

Get a Ford 60 and throw in some 35 spline outers and drive flanges and be done. If you are racing it leave it open, if you plan to pull it throw in a Lockrite.

I think id go with a T-Case out of a 3rd gen dodge. NV 271 i think? They are some tough t-cases and will put up with a lot of abuse.

x2, but if your just pulling skip the Lockrite, Ive personally blown up 3 and know some people who've broke theirs. Just weld the sypders up or go with a mini spool(if your tring to save some $$$). Yukon Stubs are a good 35spline, 4340 shaft w/out getting to expensive. Also, definitely go with drive flanges, especially if you are going with 35spline stub shafts, 35spline lock-outs= breakage and quickly, there simply not enough meat in the lockouts to not break. If you need lock outs stick w/ a 30spline stub just get chromo shafts, and the lockout hubs will last much longer, and 30spline 4340 stub shafts are roughly the same strength as a stock 35 spline stub shaft.

I run a Lockrite in my pullin truck and it has held up to some serious abuse with my front end bounce issues. The reason I went with it was if you weld it you cant steer, Lockright when I take it out of 4wd the steering is fine just hear the ratcheting, put it in 4wd and you are SOL on steering. I added hydro assist and now steering is bearable even if in 4wd.
