What is this?

Helix2 or 3. Pulled this off Don's site and I'm guessing it's Doug's truck. Looks like they stopped at 3500 although it was still making power but tailing off. Wonder why it started to tail at 3500? Maybe Don will jump in here. Whatever the optimum upper limit the question at hand is, should I go ahead an yank the short block and balance it even if I only will turn 3500? Part of the trick here it seems to me is how to make lots of power but do it with as much reliability as possible. Just because you can turn a stock bottom end 4000 doesn't mean that it likes it and will take it for 100k miles. I'm trying to find that solution that results in high output but will also last awhile.

yes you should! You are going to make life MUCH easier on your engine and its parts if you balance it. Oh and have you removed the lift and put the truck back to factory ride height front and rear yet? Remember dodge only spent several hundred thousand or maybe millions of dollars with that thing in a wind tunnel to get it right, Skyjacker must go!
 
So what you are saying is that they spent billions on making my truck aerodynamic but then ran out of money and sent the engines out the door with a sub standard balance? Hahaha just messin with you dude. I will probably drop the rear back to stock ride height and run +2" springs in the front with 20s or 22 proxies.
 
or stock level in front! you are trying to get through the wind faster not buck it with a truck that sits "level" if anything get some custom rear leafs that help with traction and lower the truck 2" in the rear to level it.
 
Well... at some point you have to balance the looks dept with going fast. I guess if speed was the only thing I was after, I would probably have sold you my truck and bought that 800hp supercharged Viper. That silly thing would have destroyed every single diesel on this board that have ever seen a real city block and even some that are trailer queens. I think I can get my truck in the 11s with the lift which will be plenty to accomplish the task at hand. How's it going Roberto lol?
